The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 390 The Unveiling of Origins

"Emily, how dare you hit me?"

Sophia's face turned bright red, but Michael couldn't help but notice the redness around Emily's eyes was even more intense.

His heart ached for Emily, but before he could say anything, Sophia spoke up again. "You've been hiding things from Michael, doing all sorts of shameful stuff, and you still have the nerve to hit me!"

"Today, I'm not holding back. I'm gonna teach you a lesson for Michael!" With that, Sophia lunged at Emily.

Her face twisted with rage, looking almost monstrous, making everyone around uneasy.

But Emily didn't flinch. At this point, there was nothing left for her to fear.

"Enough!" In an instant, Michael pulled Sophia back. His face was dark and menacing, but to Emily, it was clear he believed Sophia. Otherwise, why would he shield her behind him?noveldrama

"Michael." Sophia's sweet, coquettish voice grated on Emily's ears.

Emily felt a sharp, unbearable pain, as if needles were piercing her entire body.

"Emily, is what she's saying true?" Michael suddenly asked Emily.

Daniel, seeing this, grew anxious. Even if he wasn't pursuing Emily, as her friend, he couldn't stand seeing her misunderstood after all she'd done to protect Michael's child, enduring IV drips and medication.

It was just too unfair!

"Michael! How can you believe her so easily? Emily didn't..."

"I didn't ask you!" Michael's intense gaze seemed to pierce through Daniel.

Emily saw this and didn't want to drag more people into the mess.

She just wanted to quietly mourn Isabella and handle the funeral arrangements. She was too tired to deal with the drama.

Moving her lips, Emily looked at Michael, her eyes brimming with tears, her body trembling slightly. "I didn't."

Sophia knew Emily would deny it.

After all, she was carrying an illegitimate child. How could she admit it so easily?

But Sophia had seen the medical records herself. There was no mistake!

Sophia's face twisted with a sinister smile as she addressed Emily again. "I knew you wouldn't admit it. How about we go to the OB-GYN right now for a check-up?" Hearing this, Emily turned her gaze to Sophia.

She sneered, her eyes filled with disdain and contempt.

Michael saw this and knew Sophia shouldn't be here.

But he was deeply concerned about Emily's pregnancy.

"I don't have time. I need to say goodbye to my mom." With that, Emily turned to leave.

Before Michael could react, Sophia seized the opportunity to block Emily's path, arguing with her. Unexpectedly, Emily pushed her aside with surprising force.

Sophia stumbled and nearly hit the door handle.

But no one in the room moved. Even Hayden outside the door took a few steps back in fear.

Sophia had lost all dignity in front of Michael.

She wanted to fight Emily to the death.

But Emily didn't care about her at all, walking straight out. Suddenly, she stopped in front of Sophia, lowering her head and raising her chin, looking down at her.

"I'm pregnant. The baby's almost five months along. Sophia, this is your last warning. Do whatever you want to me, but don't even think about my child. Otherwise, I'll take you down with me."

With that, Emily walked out without looking back.

Michael stared at Emily's retreating figure, disappearing without a word of explanation. He was her husband, her other half.

Why... why did she betray him and have an illegitimate child with another man?

Daniel followed Emily out. He knew the truth but felt there was no need to explain to Michael. If Emily wanted to clarify, the child carried Michael's blood. One day, the truth would come out.

But if Emily didn't want to explain, he was willing to bear the blame.

So what if it was against moral ethics? For Emily, he wasn't afraid of anything.

The room grew quiet, the smell of disinfectant filling the air. Michael's mind was in

turmoil, and Sophia's sobbing only made it worse.

The more annoyed he got, the louder she cried.

Michael knew Sophia was trying to get his attention.

But it was never going to happen.

Soon, Leo received a call from the orphanage.

His daughter had been attacked while driving; she was murdered.

The details matched those of Emily's mother, Isabella. Leo suddenly understood. Just as

he was about to head to the hospital, Michael and Emily arrived in a hurry.

This time, the situation was even more serious than before.

Leo realized his son had caused a huge problem. The Ward family and the Smith family were now enemies.

But Leo had never imagined the daughter he finally found was killed by his own son!. "What did you say?" Emily and Leo asked simultaneously.

The police weren't surprised by their shock. When they first connected the two cases, they found it incredibly coincidental.

How could such a bizarre thing happen?

Two cases, two families, but in reality, it was family destroying family.

An officer explained, "Mr. Ward, Miss Brown, this is the result of our investigation. Of course, we couldn't have done it without Mr. Smith's help. Otherwise, we wouldn't have identified the suspect so quickly.

"Additionally, we've confirmed Roger's criminal evidence. He knew Isabella was his biological sister and feared she would share the inheritance, so he secretly transferred all of Ward Corporation's overseas assets. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

"Mr. Ward, can you tell us where Roger is? He's suspected of hiring someone to kill his own sister. We need to take him to the Emerald City police station for questioning.

"Roger will be detained, but not in Emerald City. His nationality and identity are abroad, so we'll contact the foreign police for further action."

Hearing the police's analysis, both the elderly Leo and Emily were stunned.
