The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 383 Sisters Meet

It was the third day since Michael had slipped into a coma at the hospital.

Andrew had been keeping vigil the entire time. To avoid causing a bigger commotion, the Smith family had been kept in the dark.

Isabella's room was just one floor above Michael's. But Emily still hadn't come down to see Michael.

Andrew couldn't go upstairs to fetch her, so he could only sigh and watch over Michael.

To his surprise, after waiting so long without any sign of Emily, another woman showed up instead!

"Michael, I've only been gone a few days, and now you're back in the hospital with such serious injuries. How can I not be worried? I'm heartbroken..."

Sophia burst into the room, sobbing, but seeing Michael still unconscious and Andrew standing there, she quickly dropped the act and awkwardly cleared her throat.

"Oh, it's you, Andrew. So, Michael hasn't woken up yet?"

Andrew didn't like Sophia and knew exactly what kind of person she was. But this was a hospital, and Michael was still in a coma, so he didn't have the heart to drive her away. He responded solemnly and curtly.

"No, he hasn't. You're early."

Sophia, despite having been abroad for a few days, hadn't changed her fiery nature. She was relentless, especially towards someone like Andrew, who was just an assistant.

As long as Michael and Emily weren't reconciled, she always had a chance to become Michael's wife. And even if they did reconcile, so what? With her abilities, she could still find a way to separate them.

"What are you talking about? It's like you're accusing me of putting on a show for Michael!"

Andrew didn't even bother to smile. He just raised an eyebrow and coldly retorted. "Aren't you? Who comes to a hospital empty-handed? If this isn't a show, what is it?" Sophia looked down at her empty hands, embarrassed. She really hadn't brought anything.

"I... I was in such a hurry getting off the plane that I forgot!"

"How could I not bring something for Michael? Just wait, I'll go buy something now!"

With that, Sophia turned and left in a hurry, disappearing from sight. Maybe she felt too embarrassed to stay.

Andrew watched her go, a contemptuous smile on his face, then turned his gaze back to the unconscious Michael. After some thought, he decided he needed to find someone to protect Michael.

Sophia didn't have much money. The Brown family had fallen on hard times, and Hayden only sent her a limited allowance. She had scraped together enough for a plane ticket back to Emerald City, leaving her with little money left. She hadn't even figured out where she would stay that night.

So, she cursed Andrew under her breath. If it weren't for him, she could have bluffed her way through. Even if Michael woke up, she could sweet-talk him with her silver tongue.

Reluctantly, Sophia bought some supplements for Michael. After all, she had to give to receive. If she became Michael's wife, she'd have all the gifts she wanted.

Feeling better at the thought, Sophia hummed a tune as she returned to the hospital, dreaming of becoming Michael's wife. But as she entered the room, she was startled to see Emily, her face pale. It was like being caught red-handed.

"What are you doing here?" Sophia asked.noveldrama

Emily looked at Sophia, realizing she would never shed her mistress-like demeanor, always sneaking around. If Andrew hadn't insisted she come to help, Emily would never have wanted to see Sophia again.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Emily's voice was calm, but her eyes were fierce. Sophia put down the gift box, trying to appear calm despite her inner turmoil. After all, Emily was the legitimate one here, and she was just... but so what?

Sophia reassured herself. Her mother had fought her way into the Brown family with her wits, and Isabella and Emily had been driven out. Though the ending wasn't great, they had enjoyed good times.

So, Sophia believed her mother, Evelyn, had won. And now, she should be able to inherit Evelyn's cunning and outsmart Emily.

"Emily, don't get too cocky! You have the nerve to ask why I'm here? I should be asking why Michael is so badly hurt. As his wife, have you done your duty? If not, maybe you should step aside. You know Michael has always had feelings for me. Why make everyone unhappy?"

Sophia's arguments were always the same. Even though Michael had kicked her out and sued the Brown family, she preferred to deceive herself, dreaming of becoming Michael's wife.

Emily couldn't help but pity Sophia. But then she steeled her expression, took a few steps forward, exuding confidence.

She was dressed for an important meeting at JM Jewelry, in white patent leather heels and a black suit skirt, her hair neatly tied back, radiating an aura of natural authority.

In contrast, Sophia looked much less impressive. She began to fear Emily's presence and status. She was now a fallen socialite, a pariah in Emerald City.

"What... what are you going to do? Emily, I'm warning you, don't do anything rash. I... I'll fight you if I have to!"

Seeing Sophia's childish defiance, Emily almost laughed. She smirked, a mix of bitterness and disdain for her half-sister.

"Fight? You? Sophia, maybe I would have fought you before, but now, I just find you ridiculous. I don't even want to waste words on you.

"If you want to stay with Michael, fine. His medical bills haven't been paid. Why don't you take care of that? Show your sincerity."
