The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 314 Rushing Back to Emerald City

"Bryan? Alice? What brings you here?" Scarlett asked.

Bryan was well aware that Michael's mother was not an easy person to deal with.

He also knew that behind her smile, there might be a hidden dagger.

"Mrs. Smith, hello. We apologize for disturbing you so late, but we mainly wanted to have a word with Mr. Smith," Bryan replied.

Although Bryan remained expressionless, he still respectfully nodded to Scarlett, and Alice did the same. Seeing this, Scarlett immediately stepped forward and took Alice's hand.

'Having a word with Mason at this hour? They must be up to no good,' Scarlett thought.

She smiled warmly as she inquired about Alice, "What's wrong, Alice? Did Bryan bully you? Your face is so red, it looks like you've been crying."

Alice responded politely with a bitter smile, but Bryan could tell that Scarlett seemed to be deliberately changing the subject.

He had no intention of wasting words with irrelevant people and continued to ask directly. "Mrs. Scarlett Smith, has Mr. Mason Smith gone to bed?"

'He's really persistent.' Scarlett thought to herself. She had never liked Bryan, and now, with Mason ill because of her, she had to shake him off.

"Bryan, you have come at a bad time..." Scarlett began to speak slowly, but before she could finish, they heard Benjamin shouting loudly from upstairs.

"Hurry up, the ambulance is already downstairs!"

An ambulance?noveldrama

Bryan and Alice exchanged glances and then looked upstairs, where chaos had erupted.

Seeing Mason being carried out on a stretcher, Bryan frowned and instinctively glanced at Scarlett, noticing her guilty and evasive look.

He seemed to understand something and quickly approached Benjamin, asking. "Benjamin, what's going on?"

Seeing Bryan, Benjamin was momentarily stunned, then quickly stepped forward to explain the situation.

"Mr. Watson, I don't know what happened. Mr. Smith got up in the middle of the night

to use the bathroom and then started vomiting uncontrollably and fainted. It really scared us. We're taking him to the hospital now!"

Vomiting uncontrollably? Fainted?

Bryan looked at Mason on the stretcher, seeing that he was completely pale, and then noticed Michael was nowhere to be seen.

"Where's Michael? Why isn't he here?"

Benjamin quickly responded. "Ms. Smith ran away from home, and Mr. Michael Smith and Mrs. Emily Smith went to Everglade City to find her. They haven't returned for days!

"But I've already called them. Mr. Michael Smith and Mrs. Emily Smith are on their way back. Mr. Watson, the Smith family doesn't have anyone to make decisions right now, so please bear with us!"

Benjamin's words made Scarlett unhappy.

Her face turned sour, and she approached Benjamin, saying. "Alright, go take care of Mr. Mason Smith. Why so much talking?"

After speaking, Scarlett looked at Bryan, a smile forming on her lips. "Bryan, are you looking for Michael? Why don't we go inside and talk? I'm here. I can always pass on a message."

Scarlett tried to pull Alice into the living room.

Seeing this, Bryan quickly pulled Alice back and said. "No need to trouble you, Mrs. Scarlett Smith. Alice and I just came to talk to Mr. Mason Smith. Since Mr. Mason Smith is in trouble, as Michael's friends, we should go to the hospital to look after him."

With that, Bryan gave Alice a meaningful look.

Alice quickly broke free from Scarlett's grip, awkwardly said goodbye, and left the Smith Mansion with Bryan, driving away quickly.

Scarlett was, of course, displeased.

But seeing the Smith Mansion brightly lit and the servants busy, and being the only master of the house at the moment, she felt a sudden sense of satisfaction and smiled contentedly.

"You don't even know your place. Go wherever you want, just don't come back to bother me!"

On the other side, Bryan followed the ambulance closely.

The more he thought about it, the more something felt off, and he finally decided to have Alice call Emily.

He explained, "Didn't Benjamin say they were together? Emily can definitely pass the message to Michael."

At this moment, Alice had also calmed down. She understood Bryan's intention and sensed his wariness and dissatisfaction with Scarlett.

"We just need to apologize to the Smith family and not get involved in other matters. Bryan, have you forgotten? Michael is Scarlett's biological son. Michael can't escape responsibility for everything Scarlett does. In such a big family, we shouldn't make things too tense."

Alice's timely reminder was like a bucket of cold water poured over Bryan's head.

He understood that he had made a serious mistake once again.

He shouldn't have told Michael about his mother's issues, especially since nothing had been confirmed yet.

Doing so would only make Michael resent him for revealing the unpleasant truth in public.

Although every big family has its own difficult issues, the Smith family was indeed full of crises and deep-seated hatred.

Bryan knew that this was much harder to resolve than his family's divorce drama.

But fortunately, he was there, and he had to ensure that Michael could take care of Mason and prevent any further problems.

With this in mind, Bryan stepped on the gas and sped away.

Michael was stunned when he received the news of Mason's critical condition.

Fortunately, Emily was by his side and was the first to come up with a solution.

"Let Daniel stay with Veda. It's hard to book a late-night flight. We'll go back first and stabilize things at home. Let's book the earliest flight now."

Emily's voice was low but filled with determination.

Michael quickly picked up his phone to check for flights.

He quickly adjusted his emotions, took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down,

and didn't bother asking Andrew for help, doing everything himself, eager to save every second.

Veda started crying and shouting. ;"I want to go back too, Grandpa... Michael, you have to let me see Grandpa."

"What are you talking about? Grandpa just accidentally ate something bad. Even Benjamin said Grandpa is usually fine. You're never around Grandpa, what do you know? Stop saying negative things, do you hear me?" In his anxiety, Michael could only vent his frustration on Veda.

Veda was startled and didn't dare to speak again.

Seeing this, Emily patiently comforted Veda. "Veda, it's hard to book a flight now. Stay with Daniel for now. Going back tomorrow will be the same."
