The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 306 Allison Vanished

Curious about the whole situation, Benjamin decided to dig deep into the research.

Benjamin said, "How about we discuss it together tomorrow morning? I'll be waiting for you in the lab!"

While everyone else was on break, Allison was busier than ever. But no one saw it coming when Dwight's lab suddenly exploded. Allison had just stepped out of the school gates and hadn't even reached her car when she heard the blast. She immediately turned and sprinted back towards the lab.

Allison shouted, "Cleo, get a team over here! The school's lab just blew up. We need people to secure the data!"

Three minutes later, Allison arrived at the scene. She grabbed a fire extinguisher from someone, put on a mask, and was about to rush in when someone stopped her. "Miss, it's dangerous inside! You can't go in!"

Allison pushed them away, drenched herself with water, and charged in.

Alexander was in a meeting when he got the news. He bolted out with his phone in hand. Even Landon rushed over. At the scene, Alexander saw Declan.

Declan said, "Alexander, brace yourself. Ms. Bennett just went in and hasn't come out yet!"

Alexander's heart tightened, feeling like a string was about to snap. He tried to rush in, but Declan held him back tightly. "James, hold onto Alexander! The fire is too intense. Going in now is a death sentence!"

Alexander shouted, "Allison, come out!"

Declan and James struggled to restrain Alexander. When Landon arrived and heard the news, he immediately changed into protective gear and went in.

Alexander tried to follow, but Landon stopped him. "This isn't your expertise, Alexander. Leave it to me!"

Landon donned a firefighter's suit from the truck and went into the lab with the firefighters.

Inside the lab, Allison was downloading data from the computer. Her phone was scorching from the fire but still usable. Cleo, on the other end, was frantic.

Cleo said, "Allison, get out of there! Upload the data to the cloud!"

Allison replied, "No, the cloud isn't secure. We don't know the cause of the fire. Teddy is right next to me. Send someone to get him. I need three more minutes!"

The computer was overheating from the fire. Allison's hands were burned, but the data was the result of ten years of work and was about to be published. It couldn't be lost.

At that moment, the lab's firewall was attacked. Cleo noticed it too. "Someone's attacking the firewall to steal the data. Allison, you were right. This was premeditated." Allison didn't respond, her fingers flying over the keyboard, ignoring the chaos around her.

Teddy lay on the ground behind her, injured from a head wound. When Landon arrived, he saw Allison working on the computer amidst the flames, her hands burned but still typing.

Landon asked, "Ms. Bennett, how can I help?"

Allison responded, "Cool down the computer. I haven't finished copying the data. It's really important!"

Landon nodded, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and put out the surrounding flames. He then communicated with the team downstairs. "We're on the fourth floor. Send up the hoses. Ms. Bennett is safe. Tell Alexander not to worry!"

Declan hung up and grabbed Alexander. "Allison's safe, man. Hang in there. Use your skills to put out the fire fast. Teddy's in bad shape. You gotta save him!"

Alexander pulled out his phone, his hands shaking. Seeing this, James quickly stepped outside to make a call.

Three fire trucks arrived, and they got the fire under control. But the smoke inside was toxic. Allison was choking and couldn't speak. With five minutes left on the timer, she finally had time to check on Teddy.

Allison said, "Move him to a ventilated area so he can breathe, or he'll die!"

Landon carried Teddy to a window, letting him get some air. At that moment, he noticed a glint from the building opposite, likely a sniper scope reflecting sunlight.

After peeking out, he quickly pulled Teddy back and ducked. "Ms. Bennett, there's a sniper across the way. Be careful!"

Just then, a bullet shot through the window where Landon had peeked, aiming at Allison. She ducked, narrowly avoiding it, but more bullets followed, targeting the computer.

Several shots hit the computer's mainframe. As Allison pulled out the USB drive, she was shot in the arm.

"Ms. Bennett!" Landon rushed over. Allison, clutching the USB drive, her arm bleeding, ignored the pain.

Allison said, "Mr. Wells, take this. It's crucial. More important than our lives!"

Landon nodded, secured the drive in his inner pocket, and carried Teddy downstairs. The fire below the third floor was out, and many firefighters rushed in. The fourth floor's equipment was destroyed, a significant loss.

"Ms. Bennett, let me carry you down."

Allison didn't refuse. Seeing the firefighter's suit, she nodded. Shortly after being carried, she passed out. Landon was the first to emerge, carrying Teddy, who was placed in an ambulance.

More injured were brought out, but Allison was nowhere to be seen.

"Where's Allison?" Alexander grabbed Landon, who thought for a moment, his expression changing as he rushed back in. This time, Alexander followed.noveldrama

Landon replied, "Ms. Bennett was with another firefighter. We separated on the third floor."

The fire was out, but Allison had mysteriously vanished.

Alexander and Landon searched every corner but found no trace of Allison. Alexander was frantic. "Allison, where are you?"

Only echoes answered him. Allison was truly gone.

Landon checked all exits and windows on the third floor, finding a footprint and fresh marks on a windowsill, indicating someone had used a rope to escape.

Landon said, "Alexander, someone took Ms. Bennett. I'll set up a perimeter. She's injured and needs a hospital. I'll alert all hospitals to report any sightings." Landon left. Alexander stood in the empty lab, his legs giving out as he knelt.

"Mr. Carter, I checked the nearby surveillance. A car just left from the back. Also, there are signs of a sniper across the way."

Alexander turned and headed downstairs, first checking the sniper's position. Shell casings littered the ground. They had fired right under his nose. Alexander clenched his fists. "Find them. Catch that sniper!"
