The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 274 Hang Out Without Mr. Carter?

Carl's idea was so out there that Allison felt she had to give Alexander a heads-up. But Alexander didn't seem fazed. "The island's in international waters. Just report it, and it'll be fine! Don't worry, I'll handle it!"

Allison couldn't help but admire his confidence.

Alexander said, "After work, I'll pick you up from the rehab center, and we'll grab dinner tonight!"

Alexander was planning a romantic evening, but Allison had other plans. "I already made plans with Sabrina and Teddy. I promised them barbecue!"

Alexander raised an eyebrow. It sounded like she was excluding him. His mood soured instantly.

"You're ditching me to hang out with Teddy? Allison, you're his aunt!" His jealous tone made Allison laugh.

"You're his uncle. You should be treating him to dinner. Or are you not coming?" Allison's words shifted the responsibility, and Alexander's expression softened. He hung up the phone, and Carl stared at Allison. "Not planning to take me?"

Allison sighed. Couldn't these two let the kids have a night out?

Allison asked, "Do you think we could enjoy our meal if you came along?"

Carl retorted, "If Alexander can go, why can't I? Allison, I'm family too!"

Great, a reason Allison couldn't refuse. Of course, he had to come!

So, Allison ended up bringing both Alexander and Carl to the barbecue joint. When they saw the location, Alexander frowned. "A barbecue place next to a funeral home? How did you find this spot?"

Carl looked equally disgusted. "This place is so gloomy. Aren't you worried about indigestion?"noveldrama

And it wasn't even a proper restaurant, just a makeshift tent. This was the kind of place Carl would never visit in his lifetime.

Allison responded, "This is the place. If you don't like it, you can leave now!"

Allison smiled as she got out of the car. Sabrina and Teddy were already waiting at the entrance. When Teddy saw Alexander's car, he looked annoyed. "You promised to treat me to dinner. Why is Alexander here?"

Teddy was acting haughty, while Sabrina curiously peered into the car. "Allison, won't eating with them give us indigestion?"

Allison laughed. Sabrina was always so amusing.

Allison replied, "Not really. They might not even come in. Let's go inside!"

It was dinner time, so the place was packed. Sabrina had never been to such a place before and was full of curiosity. "So many people!"

Allison smiled, holding her hand as they went to the counter. When the owner, Gavin Price, saw Allison, his eyes lit up. "Ms. Bennett, you're here!"

Allison nodded and smiled at Gavin. "Gavin, long time no see!"

Gavin said, "You're a rare guest. Are these your friends?"

Allison nodded. "Yes, they are!"

Gavin said, "Great. Wait a moment, I'll find you a seat!"

Gavin quickly found them a table as someone had just finished and paid. Sabrina didn't mind at all and sat down, fascinated by the woven chairs. "These chairs are so pretty, made with ropes. Look, Allison, there's even a flower pattern!"Allison sat down and explained to Sabrina, "Gavin's a master woodcarver. Barbecue is just his side gig. His main work is elsewhere!"

Gavin brought over some tea, smiling. "Ms. Bennett, the usual? What would you two like to eat? Go ahead and order!"

Despite being a small place, they used mobile ordering. Allison scanned the code and handed the phone to them to order. When she looked up, two towering figures were sitting across from her.

Just a couple of minutes earlier, Alexander and Carl had received a message. After reading it, they exchanged glances and got out of the car together. James, who witnessed the whole thing, felt like they were getting out not to eat but to kill

someone.

He had received the same message and had already investigated the place. The owner indeed had some background.

Teddy said, "Alexander? You actually came in?"

Alexander shot Teddy a look, snatched the phone, and selected a few items before tossing it to Carl.

Carl, looking disgusted, added a couple more items. Their expressions alone were enough to kill anyone's appetite. Allison was used to Carl's behavior; even if he were stranded in a desert, he wouldn't drop his rigid standards.

As for Alexander, he probably couldn't understand why anyone would eat here.

James walked in and saw the scene, smirking as he sat in a corner.

After ordering, Allison fetched utensils and placed them in front of Alexander and Carl. Alexander and Carl were pleased, but Teddy wasn't. "Seriously, you two? Can't you use your own hands? Making Allison, who's younger, serve you don't you feel ashamed?" Alexander shot him a look, and Teddy immediately lowered his head in fear.

"My fiancée serving me got a problem with that?" Alexander said.

"Allison is family. Is it hard to understand her serving me?" Carl added.

Sabrina burst out laughing, looking at Teddy. "Why do you provoke them? Aren't you afraid they'll roast you too?"

Allison laughed as well. Teddy, both angry and aggrieved, didn't dare say anything. His timid yet troublemaking nature made Allison and Sabrina laugh heartily.

Soon, the skewers arrived. Seeing the variety of meats, Carl frowned. "What are these?" Allison handed a skewer to Sabrina and explained, "This is brisket, chicken, sausage, ribs, and these are vegetables."

The assortment of barbecued items seemed to open a new world for Carl. He tried one and found it quite tasty, though a bit dirty.

Alexander, discreetly wiped the skewers with a napkin before handing them to Allison. Allison brought a plate to James, who praised the food.

"This barbecue is really good. The meat is fresh. I didn't expect such delicious food here!"

Allison smiled, pouring juice for Sabrina. "Is it good?"

Sabrina nodded. "It's amazing! Allison, how do you always find the best food?"

Allison smiled, eating her skewer. Gavin came over with more skewers and overheard Sabrina's question.

Gavin replied, "Ms. Bennett gave me the barbecue recipe and even helped fund this place. Otherwise, I would've been starving years ago!"
