Serena woke up for the first time in the early morning, the anesthesia from the surgery had worn off, and her wound hurt badly

Paisley comforted her for a while before she fell asleep again, sleeping until dawn. Though the wound still hurt, she had gotten used to the pain. As long as it wasn't pulled or stretched, it wasn't too bad.

Right now, Paisley was feeding Serena some food. It was brought over early in the morning by Maria. Paisley had wanted her to rest at home longer, but she knew Maria couldn't sit still. Serena smiled after each bite, her pale face lighting up with her bright eyes

"Why are you so happy?" Paisley asked, then fed her more.

Serena obediently swallowed the food, "Because I can see Mom. Having Mom with her felt so good.

Those words hit Paisley like a knife, making her hand holding the spoon tremble slightly.

"Okay. Rena. I promise you, I'll never ignore you for this long again." Paisley would never forget this lesson. She had almost lost this child

"Okay," Serena answered with a smile, really just happy to see her mom every day. Just then, there was a knock on the door.noveldrama

Tll go see," Maria walked over, opened the door, and found Dominick standing there holding a big box, looking like he had something to give. "I just came to see Serena," he said softly.

Maria hesitated, then looked at Paisley. "Paisy."

Paisley could tell from Maria's expression that it was Dominick outside. She put down the bowl, wiped Serena's mouth, and walked over.

When Dominick saw Paisley, his eyes were full of urgency and pleading. "Paisy, I just want to see her, talk to her. Don't worry, I won't tell her the truth until she accepts me

Paisley was still hesitating when Serena's voice came from the room. "Mom, who's outside? Are they here to see me?"

Dominick's expression softened. "Paisy, please, let me see her."

Paisley sighed and shifted to the side. "Fine, go ahead. But don't forget what you promised me

Dominick nodded and quickly walked into the hospital room. Seeing the pale little girl with curious wide eyes lying on the bed, his own eyes reddened with emotion.

He still remembered the first time he saw her was at Sonny's kindergarten. She had gotten into trouble with Sonny and Stella, so her parents had been called.

She was so tiny, hiding behind a tree, watching him. She was clearly scared but stubbornly refused to cry. Maybe it was from that moment he planted a seed of fear in her heart. Now, whenever she saw him, she resisted and was terrified. How could he uproot that fear from her heart?

Serena had been curious about who had come to see her. The voice sounded like a man's, and she thought it might be Max. But it wasn't.

She felt a bit disappointed. "Why isn't it Max?"

Her casual comment hit Dominick right in the heart. Forcing a smile, he said, "Rena, I came to

see you. I even brought you a toy. You wanna take a look?"

He had no idea what toys kids her age liked. He never had to worry about Grayson's toys since that boy had his own. playroom full of all kinds of toys. So, he had to rely on memory, picking the toy Grayson had played with the longest.

Serena stared at the big box in Dominick's hands, her little face scrunching up. "Mom, can I not take it?"

'Not take it? Dominick was stunned. 'Did I pick the wrong gift?'

Paisley gave him a complicated look. "Dominick, she's only three years old. And you bought her a thousand-

piece LEGO set?"

Dominick froze. "But this is the one Sonny played with the longest." In fact, Grayson was still playing with it. So he must like it, right?
