The Beta’s Regret

Chapter 283

(Eden's Pov)

"I trust Hades." Pison said with a smirk. "Lily will not lose her life."

I shook my head.

"How can you trust a god that derives pleasure in pain? Think about it. Won't it make him satisfied if you lost your child and you have to carry the grief with you forever?" I asked.

Pison frowned, and suddenly grabbed my neck, squeezing it tightly. All I wanted was for him not to sacrifice Lily...noveldrama

"You have no idea what you are saying. You think this will put me against Hades? Never. Even if Lily died, it would be for the greater good."

My eyes widened in horror. There was no stopping Pison. He already had his mind fixed on what he wanted to do.

I couldn't breathe. My eyes desperately pleaded for him to let me go.

Finally, he chuckled sickly "Hades also has plans for you. It's only a matter of time before you begin to think the way we do..."

"I would never." I said with venom in my voice.

Pison ignored me. "You will become my queen, and you will rule alongside me forever."

My stomach churned in disgust at the thought. I could never imagine how Pison imagined that I would ever come to accept his visions and align myself with it.

I shivered, unable to decide which was more terrible, the idea of ruling forever or the fact that Pison imagined that it was a fate I could never escape.

That would be the last thing I wanted for myself.

Frustration piled up in me, and unable to stop myself, I screamed as loudly as I could. My voice vibrated across the space, filled with a force that sent waves through the air. My horror, fear and frustration could be felt in its gruttal sound Pison's eyes widened in surprise as he stepped away from me.

My shout was followed by loud cries, as a certain unease filled the air, as chaos immediately rang out. We could hear the clash of metals, the shouts coming from the direction of the palace and knew that something was wrong.

I felt a strange satisfaction in me, as I felt the rebellion in the air. I was certain a war had started.

At the same time, the moon began to hang high in the sky, giving the atmosphere a reddish ambiance.

The blood moon has began.

Pison looked up at the moon high in the sky and he released a fierce growl. I felt his anger go off him in waves.

Pison suddenly went still as he stared into blank space; it was obviously that he was having a conversation with his warriors through the mind link.

His eyes narrowed to slits as his expression hardened. A flicker of something sinister crossed his face and I felt a chill rock my spine.

Pison gritted his teeth and spoke out

in a growl as he turned to me with a deadly look.. "They have begun a revolt. I

would happen. I shouldn't have assumed that taking you and Arthur

knew something like this t

away should stop the rebellion."

I smiled. "You can never put a stop to what the moon goddess wants."

"You can shout all you want, or believe that you would be able to get rid of me, that is just a lie. I already knew about your plans with Arthur. Hades warned me about you. I had planned ahead to counter your attack. You cannot get rid of me."

I scoffed. "If you know so much, then you should have seen this coming."

Pison glared at me. "It was merely an oversight made the mistake of trusting Arthur's men. I assumed they would listen to me because they were all under my command, but couldn't be more wrong. They have started a rebellion and released Pison

the people from their eased

growled.

"It's too late." I smiled.

Pison chuckled. "Not even a rebellion would stop me from completing the ritual. I already predicted something like this would happen. Pison looked at the sky. The moon hung in the sky like a red ball.

One of the elders called out from behind.

"You should start now, my king. The blood moon will be over in a few minutes." He called out.

Pison nodded and turned away from me with a crooked smile.

I watched with a sinking feeling as he went back to the table where Lily was still crying.

Pison rolled his eyes at the infant and gave it a glare that only sent the child into panic as she threw her chubby little fingers in the air.

My breath seized as soon I saw Pison pull out a dagger from a pouch on his clothes.

The dagger had an unusual shape, and my heart heart skipped, as I imagined the blade digging into Lily's skin even before Pison did it.

I whimpered as my heart broke at being unable to save the little girl.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't break free from the silver and wolfsbane coated chain at my wrist that tied me to the stake. Tears slipped out of my eyes as I fixed my gaze on Pison. "Don't do this, please!" I begged

Pison raised the knife into the air, and as soon as he brought it down in one sweep, I closed my eyes and turned my face away.

"Nooooo!" I cried out.

What I heard next was a loud growl and a strong blow of the wind, not the silence I had anticipated.

I opened my eyes and looked back at Pison curiously as I could still hear Lily's voice.

My eyes widened in pleasant surprise when I saw Eros. He had halted Pison's hand movement with his, growling loudly into Pison's face as he said

"Do not touch her!"
