The Beta’s Regret

(Eden's Pov)

My screams earned me a few nasty looks from the women around me, but they didn't say anything. They just ignored me.

The details of the dream felt too real to me. I could still feel Hades hands wrapped around my neck.

At first, I saw Lily in the dream. Her innocent cries rent the air as she struggled to call for attention.

My heart ached for the little girl as I looked around, to check if Pison was there. It surprised me that he wasn't... The area around me was shrouded in darkness. I couldn't see beyond a few feet- I was in a void space.

I didn't think about it as I knew this was just a vision. I moved closer, and bent down to pick Lily in my arms.

Her face was red as she threw her little hands into the air.

I smiled, falling in love with the little creature. Suddenly, she disappeared, fading away into black smoke. And before I had time to think about where she had gone, the smoke formed a dark figure. There were no details to it, no face to put a finger on, just a human shaped figure, and it was fast, it moved at the speed of light.

One minute, the figure was a few inches away from me, and the next, the figure was right in front of me, cold hands of death wrapped around my neck as it attempted to choke the life out of me.

I couldn't pull out or fight back, it was almost as if I was frozen in place. I couldn't even shout to alert anyone of my discomfort.

Goosebumps washed over my skin as I began to run out of air.

"Don't interfere with my plans, Eden!" I heard a voice growl in my head. I was sure it came from the figure even though I couldn't see a face. I just knew it. "What are you?" I squeaked.

The figure hissed, and I suddenly felt a burn around my throat, as if it was suddenly set ablaze.

I screamed.

A chuckle rent the air and the figure released me. "I am exactly what you think I am."

Hades.

I shivered.

I heard a sharp click, and I was suddenly awake, breathing heavily as I wrapped my hands around my throat trying to quell the discomfort.

Everything felt too real. I was scared. What if Hades had killed me in my dreams. There was a possibility I could have died here too. But why was Hades in my dreams?

Could it be that he knew my plans to get rid of Pison and to stop the ritual? Of course, he knew. He is a deity!

My head ached as I sat up and leaned against the wall.

A small groan left my lips as I placed my hand against the skin of my neck. My temperature had begun to spike. I was having a fever.

Another moan left my lips as I suddenly felt weak.

"Maybe we should just give up." I whispered into the air.

Tiara answered. "No we won't. We have come too far to go back."

... then I felt a small familiar buzz of energy from within. It slowly

ascended and caressed my bol net

felt refreshed.

I was about to question the source of the energy when I heard another voice in my head

"Don't be afraid, Eden."

The moon goddess.

She was back. It's been so long.

I smiled, although that was all I felt before the energy faded away. But it was all I needed to hold onto hope, and faith- to not give up.

"What do you think about Tiara? You think we can win?" I asked with a smile.

There was a small silence before my wolf spoke. "We are not alone." Was all she said. But I got so many statements in those few words.

She was scared too. We could win,

or we could lose. But no matter what we had faith to triumph and that we are fighting under the name of

moon goddess. What other

I was still in my thoughts when the door opened and the maids came in. The women around me began to dress up.

It was only a few hours to the blood moon.

The ritual would begin by nightfall.

I joined the women, and soon, we were all dressed and ate our food. While eating, the atmosphere loosened up.

Crystal summoned the women who wanted to hear me speak, and I shared my plans with them. Everyone nodded and we all dispersed just in time for Lunch.

We were barely done with lunch when the warriors entered the dungeon and started making their pick of the women.

As they left one after the other,

those who were in with me looked

my way and I gave them a knowing wink. They winked back in

understanding, knowing what to do...

"You, come with me!" One of the men pointed at Crystal who sighed in resignation. She held my hand and I squeezed it softly in comfort.

We shared a small smile. It was that of farewell, if we were going to survive the fight and triumph... if we would meet again.

She hugged me quickly, and followed the warrior.

Finally, I was alone with a 10-year old girl. They'd taken everyone else. But before I could speak to her, Arthur's men came.

I signaled for them to wait as I turned to the little girl.

"What's your name?" I asked

The girl watched me with wide eyes before she replied. "Brielle"

I nodded and gently patted her hair. "You will be fine." I assured her.

The girl nodded meekly.

With that, I turned and followed the guard out.

Today would be the day we take back the territory. It was time!
