Caroline immediately regretted her earlier actions. Why couldn't I just keep quiet? She knew David held grudges and loved seeking revenge. Now, her impulsive words had backfired on her.

Seizing the moment when David wasn't paying attention, she pried his hand away and turned to flee. But as soon as she spun around, she was greeted by Harper's cheerful smile at the top of the stairs. Why hasn't Mom left yet?

She had fabricated things, and she regretted it deeply. Better to apologize than let this-escalate.
