Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 886

Chapter 886:

“Mr. Stevens, you haven’t left yet?” she said.

After slipping into her disguise, Allison appeared in front of Colton once more.

The sight of her made him stiffen, though he tried to mask it with a casual demeanor.noveldrama

“I was hoping to see Mr. Shaw,” he said, forcing a relaxed tone. “Has he come back yet?”

Colton had spent the entire day wandering aimlessly, still clueless about how to access the lab on the second basement level.

The uncertainty was eating away at him, but he worked hard to hide his growing anxiety.

“He hasn’t returned yet,” Allison said, her voice light and innocent. “Things are a bit hectic today. If you’re waiting for him, it might take a while.”

Hearing this, Colton frowned slightly, his frustration barely concealed.

“Then would it be okay if I waited in the office?” he asked. “I promise I won’t bother anyone.”

Allison pretended to hesitate, biting her lip as if conflicted. Then, she lowered her voice. “Normally, that’s not allowed,” she said, glancing around as if nervous. “But if it’s really urgent, I could sneak you there. Just don’t tell anyone, okay?”

Colton exhaled, clearly relieved. “Of course! You have my word I won’t say a thing!” He had no idea what was coming.

For him, it seemed like just another ordinary day at the lab.

With Verruckt out of the picture, he was eager to make the most of the situation.

Colton gave Allison a serious look and said, “Whether or not I get to meet Mr. Shaw, I’ll make sure you’re well rewarded once this is over.”

“That’s too generous of you. A little tip is all I need,” Allison replied with a bright smile.

She handed him a crisp white lab coat and led him confidently to the lab located on the second basement level.

She even took the extra step of setting him up in a lounge near the office.

Gesturing toward a door, she said warmly, “That’s Mr. Shaw’s office right there,” as she poured him a steaming cup of coffee. “If he comes back, I’ll make sure you hear about it first.”

Colton took the cup with a polite nod. “Thank you,” he said.

But as soon as Allison walked away, his face hardened into an icy expression.

He looked over at the office, just a few steps away, and felt a pull he couldn’t ignore.

Alice’s words came back to him: the medication for nerve conditions was stored near the bookshelf.

Now, with the office empty and no one in sight, the opportunity was too perfect to pass up.
