Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 825

Chapter 825:

As Verruckt spoke, even Jareth beside him dared not look up. He knew that while his boss seemed to offer a choice, there really was none. If Alice decided to leave, she would likely meet a tragic end like Fiona’s in an instant. Verruckt was unpredictable, like a ticking time bomb. He was utterly unreasonable.

Allison, too, knew this was a trap.

“Mr. Shaw, I’ve made my decision,” she said, her voice delicate but carrying an undeniable determination.

“No matter what happens, tonight’s events are on me. I can’t leave. If I did, I’d carry the guilt for the rest of my life, and that would be worse than death.”

Her words only deepened the mystery etched on Verruckt’s face. “Alright, Alice, if that’s your choice.”

Since she had decided to stay, he wasn’t about to let her leave now.

Truth be told, Verruckt wasn’t sure what this strange feeling inside him was. But he knew one thing for certain: when he found something intriguing, he would stop at nothing to claim it.

Not far away, Jareth sensed something was off.

“Boss, that racket’s drawn a crowd. They’re heading this way,” he warned.

Verruckt’s voice was frosty as he commanded, “Turn off the flashlight.”

Suddenly, they were engulfed in darkness again. Allison, her eyes enhanced by special lenses, saw a crowd storming up the stairs.

As she mulled over her options, she suddenly felt a firm grip on her waist. In an instant, the world tilted sideways. Her instinct was to strike back, but she forced herself to hold back, resisting the urge to act on her deadly instincts.

“Mr. Shaw, I can—”

She was cut off as Verruckt hoisted her onto his shoulder. “Zip it. You’re dragging us down.”

Allison bit her tongue, noting his consistently cutting remarks. His broad, warm shoulder pressed into her side. His presence was as fiery as a lit torch.

Verruckt wasted no time, whisking them to a new location in seconds. Gunshots echoed behind them.

“Miss Smith is dead. It’s got to be Verruckt!”

“They won’t get far. Mr. Smith wants no survivors after we snag the drug!”

“Move it, they’re just up ahead!”

Allison’s frown deepened. This crew was leagues ahead of the previous ones; their skills were clearly superior. She quickly realized that she had been right. The skilled assassins closed the gap fast, tossing a stun grenade to the floor.

Bang!

The once-dark club was suddenly bathed in light.noveldrama
