Chapter 166 Let's Get Married

Before I could come back to my senses, Levi turned around and left. I couldn't

shake the feeling that he had something to say to me. However, Eric was still lying on a stretcher in the ambulance. I had to push my thoughts aside and step into the ambulance.

Eric's wound was torn. Although it wasn't too serious, he was wheeled back into the operating room for re-stitching.

He was merely under local anesthesia this time. So, he was still wide awake when they wheeled him into a ward after the surgery. He was even staring at me.

When Eric saw the concern in my eyes, his lips curled into a grin. "I'll be fine."

I lowered my head and averted my gaze. My voice also became gloomy when I said, "If only you didn't stop Jack from slapping me earlier."

I had given up all hope on Jack. So, I had prepared myself for the possibility that he might hit me for Elsa's sake.

I was deeply moved by Eric's help, but I felt bad that he was injured again because of it.

Eric heard what I said and responded affectionately, "How could I have let that happen? For that matter, I acted out of instinct earlier. There was only one thing in my mind, and that was keeping him from hurting you."noveldrama

I immediately raised my head, feeling deeply moved. My mind instantly drew a blank when I met his gaze. All of a sudden, something popped into my mind as well.

Back in the courthouse, Eric said that he wanted to marry me.

I responded softly, "Thank you. It's not just for this, though."

Eric was stunned momentarily. Then, his gaze grew more firm as if he had made an important decision in his mind.

"What if I was serious about it?" His voice was gentle, but it sounded thunderous in my ears.

The surprise in my eyes was unmistakable. "What? What are you saying to me?"

Eric cleared his throat when he saw my shocked expression. Then, his expression immediately turned solemn. "Let's get married."

Before I could grasp the meaning of his words, he hurriedly added, "We'll just get the actual marriage certificate but fake our marriage."

I immediately gave Eric a puzzled look, feeling a little lost.

He explained, "Although I'm the CEO of Flint Group, I won't be able to inherit most of my shares until after I'm married. There are internal feuds in the company as well. The odds will be stacked in my favor if I can get my hands on the shares.

"More to the point, my family has been arranging blind dates for me all the time, Honestly, it's annoying." Eric looked at me with a serious expression. "You're the only woman I trust."

I pursed my lips, feeling overwhelmed. "I..."

Eric was probably worried that I wouldn't agree to it, so he added, "You'll stand to

lose nothing from our marriage. In fact, you have much to gain from it.

"I'm aware that you want to screw Jeremiah over and that you're not stopping at the divorce. After we married, I do everything in my. power to help you achieve that goal.

Once the dust settles, w

divorced anytime we want.

I had to say that Eric's offer was very tempting.

Taking the entire Cornell family alone would be a huge undertaking. Right now, Eric was an excellent ally to be had.

That wasn't all, either. Marrying him would iron out a lot of kinks as well. Mom and Dad were quite pleased with him too.

More importantly, this was the first time Eric had actually needed my help. I owed him too many favors from my past life, and I continued to owe him more after I was reincarnated.

I had always been worried about not having the chance to repay him. Now that an opportunity had fallen into my lap, I had to grasp it.

Under Eric's anticipating and nervous gaze, I nodded slowly. "Okay. It's a deal."

His eyes sparkled when he heard what I said. In fact, there was actually some pride in them.

"Fantastic!" Eric fought the pain in his chest and sat upright. "Let's get our marriage certificate tomorrow!"
