Before I could come back to my senses, Levi turned around and left. I couldn't

shake the feeling that he had something to say to me. However, Eric was still lying on a stretcher in the ambulance. I had to push my thoughts aside and step into the ambulance.

Eric was stunned momentarily. Then, his gaze grew more firm as if he had made an important decision in his mind.

"What if I was serious about it?" His voice was gentle, but it sounded thunderous in my ears.

The surprise in my eyes was unmistakable. "What? What are you saying to me?"

Eric cleared his throat when he saw my shocked expression. Then, his expression immediately turned solemn. "Let's get married."

Before I could grasp the meaning of his words, he hurriedly added, "We'll just get the actual marriage certificate but fake our marriage."

I immediately gave Eric a puzzled look, feeling a little lost.

He explained, "Although I'm the CEO of Flint Group, I won't be able to inherit most of my shares until after I'm married. There are internal feuds in the company as well. The odds will be stacked in my favor if I can get my hands on the shares.

I had to say that Eric's offer was very tempting.

Taking the entire Cornell family alone would be a huge undertaking. Right now, Eric was an excellent ally to be had.
