Chapter 150 I'm Definitely Leaving This Marriage
Even when I stepped out, Jeremiah didn't release Elsa's hand.
He paused for a moment but quickly regained his composure and asked, "Why are you out here?"
I glanced at my watch. "I still have things to do at the studio. I'll be heading out now."
Elsa gave me a subtle, victorious smile. When our eyes met, she quickly lowered her head. But as soon as she looked up again, her face returned to the same pitiful mask.
"Jane, it's all my fault. If it weren't for my health, Jeremiah wouldn't have had to come out."
Jeremiah was worried I might be harsh on Elsa. He supported her as he glanced at me, his face full of seriousness. "Don't make things difficult for Elsa. She can't help it that her health is poor."
I turned away and couldn't help but sneer, "So now it's my fault?"
I took a step forward closer to Elsa and grabbed her wrist to stop her from backing away.
"Don't worry. I'm done with this man. Since you like second-hand goods so much, go ahead and hold on to him. By the way, don't forget to lock him up in a safe. Otherwise, if he falls for another woman, things could get messy," I said with a smile.
Elsa froze, staring at me. The next second, she suddenly pulled her wrist away, clutching it tightly in her hands. "Jane, why did you grip so hard? It hurts..."
With a single sentence, Jeremiah immediately looked at her with concern and gently stroked her reddened wrist.
I felt speechless as I stared at the two of them. I couldn't resist saying, "Compared to me, you've got some real strength. You're like a damn bull."
Elsa, always known for her frailty, flushed bright red when I compared her to a bull. She was about to protest when she noticed Jeremiah's gaze on me. Her expression froze in an instant.
Jeremiah was calming Elsa while looking in my direction. He frowned as he asked, "What do you mean by that?"
My gaze lingered on his face for a moment before I rolled my eyes. "You'll find out in a couple of days."
With that, I winked at Elsa, feeling in high spirits as I stepped into the elevator.
Behind me, Jeremiah seemed to want to catch up and get an explanation, but Elsa didn't let him. Just as Jeremiah took his first step, Elsa's body went limp again, and she fainted.
Back at Flint Group, Eric and Levi had been waiting for me for quite a while. When they saw me return, their faces were immediately filled with concern as they rushed to meet me.
Levi was the first to speak as he ran up to me. "Jane, are you okay?"
I nodded my head, and though my answer was for him, my gaze couldn't help but fall on Eric.
Our eyes met, and I took the USB drive out of my bag, placing it on the desk before him. "Now, it's up to you."
Flint Group, a leader in electronics and software, had many outstanding programmers. Some were even hackers Eric had hired with a
generous salary. So, investigato
a
bank transaction trail wasn't difficult
at all.
As evening fell, Eric's secretary walked in with a thick stack of documents.noveldrama
The documents contained all of Brock's and Jeremiah's recent domestic and international financial transactions. The information was compiled by a hacker. Though the accounts had been moved through several hands, they were eventually tracked down.
Looking at the evidence, I felt as though I could already see the divorce certificate -the symbol of my freedom-waving at me.
After my failed divorce lawsuit last time, I had made a silent vow that no matter
what, I would sever all ties with Jeremiah.
So, I took the evidence and headed
straight to the law firm the next morning. After confirming with the lawyer that the case was nearly foolproof, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
Even the usually overcrowded and unpleasant underground parking lot seemed to
carry a faint scent of freedom.
But for some reason, the parking lot today felt a little off.
What do you think?
