Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks

My Billionaire Family 540

Before Mateo could finish speaking, Hank had already approached the side of their car.

Their car's security system was extremely good, comparable to Morris's car, and perhaps even safer than his. All the windows, including the windshield, were covered with frosted film that completely obscured the view inside. As a result, when Hank walked up to the car, he couldn't see who was inside no matter how long he looked.

Just as Hank was about to knock on the door, it made a "click" sound. Hearing the door open, Hank took a couple of steps back.

The next second, Arthur got out of the car.

Seeing who it was, Hank was stunned. His eyes, hidden behind thick glasses, flickered with disbelief and surprise, but these emotions quickly disappeared.

He thought he could hide his reactions from Arthur, but Arthur was a man of power, having seen countless people in all sorts of situations. He wouldn't miss the subtle movements of a 14-year-old boy.

Arthur smiled at him pleasantly and said, "What's the matter? Do you recognize me? I saw disbelief and astonishment on your face."

Hank paused for a moment after hearing this, then spoke, "Ah, you must be Mr. Jarrett, right? What are you doing here? I never dreamed I'd see you at the entrance of our little orphanage. Are you, by any chance, visiting in disguise?"

After saying this, he shook his head. "No way, that can't be it. Or can it? Are you visiting in disguise?"

Arthur chuckled, standing quietly opposite him and listening to his words.

Only after Hank had finished speaking did Arthur reply, "It's rare. You're only 14, yet you remain so calm upon seeing me. Most people would have been intimidated and run away. You have a bright future ahead of you."

"To be honest, I've investigated you secretly. You're a student under Ms. Leach and the champion of the Traditional vs. Modern Medicine Competition hosted by the Global Medical Association just the other day. I wonder who you take after- your mother or your father?" he asked.

Hearing this, Hank hesitated and said, "I'm just myself. After all, I'm just an orphan from the orphanage."noveldrama

Hank tried to recall everything that had happened today and yesterday. As his thoughts lingered on the last time he parted ways with Cherise, he realized what happened.

He had calculated everything, but he hadn't anticipated anything involving Cherise. He thought, "That hand, the one that had patted his shoulder. If it was Ms. Leach, she would have seen through everything. However, there must have been a reason for what Ms. Leach did.'

After taking a breath, Hank looked at Arthur again. "Do you know something?"

He had never blamed the man in front of him because he was also a victim, completely unaware of the situation. If it weren't for his appearance in Betrico, in front of Cherise, Arthur might never have known of his existence.

Arthur, who always acted decisively and honestly, did not hide anything from Hank. He nodded. "Yes, I know about the relationship between you and me. You are my son, and I am your father."

As Arthur uttered the word "father", his voice noticeably choked.

Mateo had already come out and stood beside him. This was the first time he had seen the authoritative man in front of him appear so seemingly at a loss and cautious.

Upon hearing the word "father", Hank's expression froze for a moment, and a slight movement could be seen in his throat.

He lowered his head, as if deep in thought. After a few minutes, he looked up, took off the thick glasses perched on his nose, and casually brushed back his slightly long bangs from his forehead.

"Since you already know and have come to find me, I have nothing to hide. Yes, I am your son. Ms. Leach is indeed very perceptive, able to discover my secret," he said.

Seeing Hank who had taken off his glasses and revealed his smooth forehead, Mateo was the first to exclaim in amazement.

"My goodness, the resemblance is uncanny. Mr. Jarrett, he looks exactly like you did when you were fourteen or fifteen," he said.

"No, he's even more handsome than you. His mother must have been a real beauty," he added.

Indeed, without the thick, oversized glasses, Hank seemed like a

completely different person. Before, he had the image of a naive and somewhat childish teenager with a bit of lingering innocence.

But now, he was different. The boy standing in front of them had rosy lips, white teeth, and sharp, elegant eyebrows. He looked more mature, like a handsome high school student straight out of a comic book. He resembled Arthur, with both elegance and handsomeness. Arthur looked at him and nodded approvingly. "Not bad at all. You are a good kid. Anyone can tell you're my child."

He paused for a moment, wanting to say something but hesitating.

Hank understood his dilemma and spoke up, "You want to ask about my mom, right?"

Arthur nodded. "Yes, to be honest, I don't know who your mother is. It's not that I'm irresponsible; I've never really had any women in my life. So my memory is vague."

Hank understood. He put his hands in his pockets and sighed, "My mom is in Astamia. She probably can't come to Fresburg right now."

Hearing Astamia, Arthur frowned slightly, "Why?"

Hank shook his head, not seeming very eager to elaborate.

Seeing that Hank didn't want to talk about it, and feeling satisfied with what had happened today, Arthur didn't push him further.

"Well, son, do you want to come with me..." Arthur asked.

Before he could finish, Hank said, "I want to stay at the orphanage for now. Once all the younger kids there have found new families, I'll come find you."
