Chapter 406: Leaked Information
Astrid's POV
The words hung in the air, heavy and ominous. I felt my chest tighten, the
implications settling like a stone in my stomach. "What do you mean?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Andros's gaze dropped again, his shoulders slumping as if the weight of his confession was too much to bear.
"If you suspect that someone's feeding the rogue king information, it wasn't me. It must be someone close to you," he answered. "Since they know so much about the Pack, it could be someone in your ranks. Tell me, is there anyone acting weird recently? Anyone you think that is hiding something."
"That's impossible," I instantly blurted out. "All of us wanted the rogue king gone. All of us were helping each other to overcome this crisis. Why would someone betray us and work with the rogue king?"
"I'm not the one leaking information to the rogue king," Andros spoke sternly.
"Who do you think it is?" The question that escaped Killian's mouth made me look at him.
"Killian, what are you saying?" I asked as I whipped my head to him.
I thought he would take my side and have the same thoughts as me. I couldn't
suspect any traitor among us. It was impossible, absurd even.
Andros and Killian stared at each other for a long time, sharing quiet understanding. Killian was the first to speak. "Was it an Alpha?”
My jaw fell at Killian's question. I never considered that one of the Alphas could possibly be secretly working with the rogue king.
When Andros suggested that there could be someone working for the rogues among us, the first thing that came to my mind were the members of our Pack.
"I'm not sure," Andros answered. "As I told you, I don't know anything about the rogue King. Aside from the forsaken amulet, I have no idea what else he is planning or thinking. All I know is that he has a lot of people helping him and it could be someone you would least expect."
Killian slowly nodded his head. "If he could have my mother work secretly for him, then he could have had another Alpha or Luna working secretly for him too."
Who could it be? Who is he thinking?
Andros nodded. "You should check everyone. We can never be too safe."
Killian's fists clenched at his sides, his breathing uneven as he thought of someone like an Alpha and a Luna working as a spy against us.
"Who do you think would have a connection to the rogue king?" I asked Andros.
Andros's eyes narrowed in thought. "I don't know who will. Maybe we would be totally surprised to find out who that person is."
The sincerity in his voice struck me harder than I expected. He wasn't deflecting blame, wasn't trying to escape his situation.
If anything, he seemed resigned, his regret etched into every line of his face.
Killian's voice was low, trembling with restrained fury. "If we find out you're lying—"
"I'm not," Andros interrupted, his
voice steady but filled with quiet sorrow You don't have to believe me. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. But I'm telling you the truth."

I swallowed hard, my mind racing with possibilities. If Andros was right, then we weren't just fighting an external enemy. The rogue king's reach extended much further than we thought, and the traitor could be anyone.
Killian exhaled sharply, his hands flexing as he tried to keep his emotions in
check. "Let's go," he said finally, his voice tight.
As we left the cell, Andros's parting words echoed in my mind, heavy with foreboding. Someone close to you. Someone you trust.
The thought chilled me to my core.
The walk back from Andros's cell was silent, but my mind was anything but. His words played on a relentless loop, wrapping themselves around my thoughts like a vice.
I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to. For weeks, we'd all worked together, shared strategies, and fought side by side.
We have held countless council meetings before this and no one was acting suspicious. Everyone was working together to face the rogue king.
I would have known if there is a traitor among us, especially when we always talk
about strategies and defeating the rogue king during council meetings.
How could someone betray us? How could they betray their kind?
"Killian," I began, my voice hesitant, "We could be wrong about this."
Killian didn't answer immediately, his steps measured and deliberate. His jaw was tight, the tension in his body palpable.
“I don't know,” he finally said, his voice low and strained. “I want us to be wrong. But can we afford to assume we are?"
My stomach churned at his response. Andros's words felt like a splinter lodged deep in my thoughts, festering with doubt.
I found myself replaying every council meeting we'd held, every conversation we'd had about the rogue attacks.noveldrama
Everyone had seemed so... genuine. Alphas and Lunas offering suggestions, sharing intelligence, strategizing together. How could one of them be a spy? It didn't make sense.
I shook my head, trying to push the thought away.
"It doesn't add up,” I said, more to
myself than to Killian. "What does the rogue king want? To destroy the hierarchies, to rule over all
werewolves, to create chaos. Why
would an Alpha or Lunet
who thrive in the current system-align with that? It goes against everything they stand for."
Killian's gaze flicked to me briefly, but he said nothing. His silence only fueled my
unease.
We continued down the dim hallway, our footsteps echoing faintly against the stone walls. My thoughts spiraled, grasping for answers, until a memory surfaced, sharp and clear.
The council meeting. Alpha Cedric standing, his voice loud and confrontational. The way he questioned our leadership, planting seeds of doubt among the others.
His timing had been too perfect, his accusations too pointed. My steps faltered, and I stopped in my tracks, the realization hitting me like a blow.
"What if it's him?" I said, my voice trembling.
What do you think?
