Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 624

The man didn't immediately respond, leaving Nathalie with just a vague promise: "You'll find out soon enough."

Nathalie was on high alert around the Stewart family, and knowing this man was set to marry into them only fueled her suspicion.

She cut right to the chase: "You know my history with the Stewarts. Since you're going to be part of their family, that makes us adversaries, not allies. Once we wrap up this meal, our connection is done."noveldrama

Having said her piece, Nathalie stood, grabbed her purse, and made to leave.

The man let out a soft chuckle, a sound that was both relaxed and slightly self- mocking.

Nathalie eyed him warily. "What's so funny?"

"I'm just laughing at myself for going through all this trouble, only to be unappreciated," he said.

Nathalie replied, "I know you've been a great help, but we're on opposite sides. If we let this friendship grow, it'll only make things harder if we ever have to face off. It's better to cut it off now while we're still just acquaintances. It's for the best."

With that, Nathalie turned and walked away without a backward glance.

The man sighed, muttering to himself, "How could I ever be your enemy?"

He turned his wheelchair and followed her.

When Nathalie reached the club's entrance, she found the world outside shrouded in darkness. The streetlights were out, and the city was swallowed by a deep night. A fierce wind howled, and the rain hammered the ground, creating a chaotic symphony that drowned out all other sounds.

In weather like this, Nathalie could barely take a step forward.

Yet, her pride wouldn't let her turn back and ask for help.

So, she hunkered down by the entrance, waiting for the storm to pass.

Just then, the revolving glass door creaked, and the wheelchair's tires came to a

stop right in front of her. She looked up awkwardly.

"What do you want?" she asked, her tone a bit sharp.

With a firm voice, the man said, "Come back inside with me."

Nathalie turned away. "I won't."

"It's freezing out here. You'll catch a cold. You look... quite delicate. Don't put yourself through this just to prove a point."

Nathalie was indeed shivering and pulled

But she had left her wallet in the car, so she had no money for another room and didn't want to share a space with him, leaving her ina dilemma.

"If you don't cooperate, I might just carry you inside," he said gently.

Startled, Nathalie jumped up. "No need for that, I can walk myself."

The man smiled and turned his wheelchair around.

For reasons she couldn't quite explain, Nathalie offered, "Let me push your wheelchair."

He didn't object. "Alright."

Nathalie pushed the wheelchair as they made their way back to the room.

The man spoke, "There's a robe and some pajamas in the closet that should fit you. You can take a hot

bath and get some rest. I'll find

somewhere else to crash tonight."

Nathalie glanced at the hallway where the chandelier swung wildly in the wind. Besides the warm room, nowhere else seemed safe.

Curious, she asked, "Where will you go?"

"Outside, just to get some air. So you don't feel awkward," he replied.

Nathalie held his wheelchair. "You're so thin, and you don't seem too healthy. You shouldn't be out in that wind."

He looked at her. "So, should I just stay here?"

Nathalie suggested, "I'll take a bath first, then you can go. I'll sleep on the couch tonight. You take the bedroom."
