No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

Noelle glanced warily at Frank after hearing his question. She said, "Frank, why are you asking this? It doesn't have anything to do with work, does it?"

"I'm just asking casually. Dr. Greene seems so mysterious; I wonder if he's hiding something."

Frank had always felt uneasy about Cedric. On the way here, he realized that the person behind this whole matter was probably Cedric.

The collaboration would likely have been canceled if Noelle hadn't solved the firewall problem. Cedric had done this on purpose.

Cedric leaned back in his chair, his arm resting on the table, exposing part of his wrist. He replied slowly, "My family runs a small business."

Alfred immediately choked on his drink. How could Cedric call it a small business? How shameless could he be? If his family business was considered small, then what about others?

Noelle looked at Alfred choking and felt a little confused. What business was Cedric's family running? She realized she didn't know much about him at all.

He had said he was away on business during this time, but she knew nothing about it. Her connection with him was actually quite fragile.

Frank continued asking, "If it's a small business, they should have a company. What's the name of it?"

Alfred stepped in to smooth things over. "Mr. Liddell, are you conducting a background check? Why ask so much?"

"After all, Mr. Greene took my sister away. As her brother, it's my responsibility to get the details, right? Don't you think so, Dr. Greene?" "Frank!"

Noelle interrupted Frank. "I don't have anything to do with Dr. Greene. You don't need to ask so much."

"Noelle, how could I not ask? What if he has ulterior motives? Women must be more cautious these days, or they might be deceived."

Frank was genuinely concerned since Cedric's background was unclear.

Noelle felt embarrassed. "But we're just friends. Asking all these questions is making things awkward between us. Have you considered how this makes me feel?" He calmed down. "Alright. Since you're upset, I won't ask anymore."

She lost her appetite for the meal.

Alfred tried to smooth things over. "Let's get the food on the table and eat something."

She sneaked a glance at Cedric. Knowing his reserved and aloof nature, she was certain that being questioned so directly by Frank would irritate him.

He noticed her downcast expression, took out his phone, and sent her a message. "Focus on your meal."

Noelle was surprised when she

received his message and looked up at him. She quickly replied, "I didn't expect Frank to ask questions like that. Sorry."

"I'm not upset."

Upon seeing his reply, she felt slightly relieved. At least he wasn't angry. The atmosphere at the dinner table improved a little.

Noelle went to the restroom for a short while She felt an inexplicable sense of unease, realizing how little she truly knew about Cedric. She saw a tall man standing against the wall outside when she left the restroom.

Cedric was leaning against the wall, holding his phone in one hand and scrolling through something with his long fingers. She saw his profile, half hidden in the shadow of the light, and walked over. "I didn't expect you to be back today."

"I just finished handling something."

Cedric put his phone down, and his gaze fell on her. "How did you end up at Frank's company? You never mentioned it."noveldrama

"I was involved in this project. The

firewall was also my responsibility. James called me to help. He's. always been kind to me, so I didn't want to see him in a difficult position."

She had agreed to help mainly because of James.

Cedric's tone was calm. "I didn't realize you had such a talent for computers. Have you considered studying Computer Science in college?" "I've thought about it, but I'm not sure yet."
