Joe turned toward the camera, his face lighting up with a warm and inviting smile. "The country needs us, so we've returned," he said simply.

After a short pause, he added with a soft chuckle, "Of course, after being away for so long, you start to really miss the good food."

His tone was light and playful, leaning in closer to the camera, his smile growing wider. "Once you've had a taste, you just can't get it out of your mind!"

Charmaine couldn't help herself and let out a soft laugh. These elderly men were truly foodies.

"What are you laughing at?" came a deep voice from behind her, startling Charmaine.

She hadn't noticed Emyr's quiet approach. As she instinctively turned around, her left foot accidentally kicked the wheelchair beside her.

In that split second, she lost her balance and nearly tumbled forward.

The world seemed to spin for a brief moment before she felt a firm grip on her waist, pulling her back. When her senses returned, Charmaine realized she was sitting on Emyr's lap.

He looked striking in a perfectly tailored white suit, with a small sapphire star- shaped brooch pinned to his chest, an elegant but subtle accent. His handsome face was like something out of a fairytale, leaving Charmaine momentarily speechless.

Noticing her gaze, Emyr smiled teasingly. "Like what you see?" he asked with a glint in his eyes.

Charmaine snapped out of her daze, her cheeks turning red as she nodded, unable to control herself. "I do."

Emyr's eyes sparkled with amusement, as though they were filled with starlight. Then, without warning, he grew serious, adjusting his posture smoothly. "I was talking about the brooch, not my face. Why were you staring at me?"

Charmaine's face turned bright red in embarrassment. She quickly jumped off his lap, feeling the heat in her ears. How could she let herself get so absorbed in his looks once again?

She bit her lip, trying to recover. "I was talking about the brooch. It looks great."noveldrama

Emyr raised an eyebrow, his voice taking on a slightly dangerous tone. "So you're saying I'm not good-looking?"

In the end, Charmaine fumbled through an exaggerated compliment, and Emyr seemed pleased as they made their way to the car, heading to the event.

When they arrived at the venue, they were escorted to their seats by a host. Emyr was placed in the center of the front row, and as Charmaine took her seat, her eyes immediately found Rex, who winked at her from the far right.

In the second row sat Willard, Olympia, and Jonah. Kane, Keon, Shawn, and Sinnova had already settled in their places, waving to Charmaine as they saw her.

But when Willard and Olympia caught sight of Charmaine, their smiles faltered, quickly replaced with expressions of disbelief.

Willard's voice dropped to a growl as he tightly gripped Olympia's hand. "Mind your surroundings."

"What on earth is she doing here, sitting in the front row?!" he muttered, his voice low with anger.

Willard's frustration only deepened when he felt the intense, cold stare from Emyr. "She must've charmed Mr. Emyr into bringing her here. What else could she rely on but a man? Does she have anything of her own to offer?" he seethed.

Olympia's lips pressed together in irritation as she watched Charmaine survey the room. Charmaine's lack of proper decorum was clearly something Olympia couldn't hide her disdain for.

"Look at her-so unaware of proper manners, it's embarrassing." Olympia whispered harshly.

She shot Charmaine a venomous glare, quickly turning her head away as though the mere sight of her would pollute her vision.

Charmaine, however, ignored their stares. She followed Emyr to their seats, her eyes quickly scanning the room. Basil and the others were seated in the VIP section across from them, and it seemed they had already spotted her. Ian winked and made a funny face when their eyes met.

Amused, Charmaine stuck out her tongue and scrunched her nose in playful mockery before continuing her search.

She spotted Dominic in the fourth row toward the back, but noticed that Celeste wasn't sitting beside him.

After a moment of contemplation, Charmaine leaned toward Emyr. "I'll be right back," she murmured.

Standing up, she asked a staff member for directions to the backstage area, then made her way there.

The backstage was bustling with activity, and Charmaine wandered through the crowd, starting to lose hope. But then, she heard a familiar voice.

"Thank you, Ms. Rue, for the promotion. I promise I won't disappoint you with my piano solo today."

Charmaine turned quickly and spotted Leah, dressed in a stunning silver-white backless gown, smiling as she chatted with a beautiful woman before they entered a private lounge.
