My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus)

Chapter 0938

"Think, Amanda! Think! Where the hell am I supposed to sleep?!" Amanda muttered to herself, completely forgetting about the guy standing beside her.

"If you want... you can stay at my apartment," Sebastian offered, watching her struggle to find a solution.noveldrama

"Really? And how exactly do you trust me? You barely know me," she said, a bit wary.

"Well, technically, it's my fault you're locked out, so it's the least I can do," Sebastian admitted, scratching the back of his neck.

"Mmm? Ugh, what do I do?" Amanda groaned, running through her options in her head. "Screw it! Fine, but only because you're practically responsible for this mess. Where do you live?"

Sebastian was taken aback by her sudden shift in attitude. A second ago, she had looked completely lost-now, she was all fire.

"My place is two blocks from here. We can walk," he said, still a little surprised.

"Alright! But let me make one thing clear, Sebastian Sinclair... If you try anything, I won't be easy prey. I know how to escape, and I will skin you alive," she warned, her tone dead serious.

"Trust me, I'm not that kind of guy. And I have zero interest in being skinned alive," Sebastian replied, shaking his head.

They walked the short distance to his apartment, and during that time, Sebastian found himself second-guessing his decision. Was this a good idea? Amanda seemed sweet, and her blue eyes were captivating, but beneath that, she was small, fierce, and had an attitude sharper than a blade.

When they arrived, Sebastian opened the door and let her in. The moment Amanda stepped inside, her eyes widened in surprise.

"Whoa! Okay... Your apartment has everything-are you the son of some important guy, or did you win the lottery?" she asked, impressed.

"Neither. Everything here belongs to my sister... I'm just staying here while I study," Sebastian replied, carefully choosing his words.

He didn't want to come off as arrogant or entitled. It made him uncomfortable to admit that the apartment—and everything in it—was actually his. The wealth he had inherited came from a grandfather he didn't even want to think about.

"Go ahead, put your stuff wherever you like. Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

"No, I'm good," Amanda said, plopping onto the couch and stretching out her arms with a satisfied sigh.

Sebastian watched as she sprawled out like a cat, lazily letting out a yawn.

"I swear I must've been a cat in a past life. If it were up to me, I'd sleep all day. But, you know, bills don't pay themselves," she said, closing her eyes.

Sebastian sat down on the other couch across from her.

"Where are you from, Amanda?"

"Huh?"

"You asked where I was from earlier. Now it's my turn to ask you."

"Oh... Well, my dad lives in Madrid, Spain. I used to live with him, but to be honest, I ran away because he wanted me to be a doctor. I'm terrible with blood or injuries—if I see someone hurt, I'll probably pass out," she admitted with a chuckle.

"I see..."

"Where's your dad?" Amanda asked, remembering how he had barely mentioned his family.

Sebastian's expression shifted. "That's... a long and complicated story," he said, trying to shut the conversation down.

But what he didn't know was that Amanda loved to listen. She was a simple girl she didn't like drama,

but she enjoyed hearin het

stories. That was why she chose to work in a café instead of the

university library-because people opened up in cafés.

"Well, I've got all night, and I'm all ears," she said, tapping the empty space beside her on the couch.

Sebastian hesitated but eventually moved closer, sitting beside her.

"What do you want me to say?"

"Tell me about yourself. What have you done in your life? Who is Sebastian Sinclair?"

"Mmm..."

"Look, I'll go first," Amanda offered. "You already know my name. I'm 20, studying law-not because I'm passionate about it, but just to spite my father. He wanted me to study

medicine, but I hate blood. I'd

probably pass out if I saw someone bleeding."

She took a breath and continued.

"My mom died when I was little. It hurt, but I found peace with it. She was sick, suffering, so when she passed, I felt relief knowing she wasn't in pain anymore.

"I lived with my dad in Madrid from

the time I was five. But being the daughter of a well-known doctor has its downsides-he was never around He always hired nannies to take care of me. I got used to being alone. Then, one day, he finally noticed me I was 18 by then. It was weird. By the time he paid attention, I wasn't a little girl anymore.
