Chapter 791
Chapter 0791
Nina
The camp had long since gone quiet, save for the sound of the wind rustling through the canopy and the occasional critter rooting around for crumbs. Beside me, Enzo slept soundly, still healing after his ordeal. He had been sleeping on and off all day, and I had hardly left his side.
But now, it was time for us to venture out of our tent and into the forest.
With a gentle hand on his arm, I shook him out of his sleep. "Enzo," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "It's time."
His eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, a flicker of confusion passed across his features. But then, realization dawned on him, and he nodded, reaching for my hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze beneath the blanket.
We dressed in silence, keeping our movements careful and deliberate so as not to wake anyone in the adjacent tents. We had to be quiet, and we had to slip out of the camp and back in without being seen.
After all, we couldn't exactly have people asking where we were going; what would we tell them? That we were traipsing off into the middle of the woods in the dead of night to perform a ritual that would bind the spirit of my dead twin sister to my baby?
As we slipped out of the tent, a cool breeze blew across my cheek, causing me to shiver and momentarily consider turning back. I paused, clutching my arms, unsure of what we were about to do. But as Enzo's fingers intertwined with mine, I felt bolstered.
We had to do this. It felt like there was no other option.
We made our way through the camp, our soft footsteps hardly making any noise against the ground. Up ahead, the treeline seemed to be waiting for us, dark but not as ominous as one would expect.
Once we had ventured deep enough into the forest, far enough away from prying eyes and ears, we came to a stop in a small clearing. I turned to Enzo, my heart hammering in my chest.
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" I asked, my voice trembling ever so slightly.
He nodded, his gaze unwavering. "If this will protect our baby, and if it will protect you from this strange shadow entity curse, then let's just do it."
With a deep breath, I nodded and reached into the satchel slung across my shoulder and withdrew the journal. Enzo watched in silence as I pressed the moonstone into the cover, which would allow me to open the translated pages.
The air seemed to thicken around us as I began reading the words on the page, almost as though the entire space around us was becoming charged with a palpable energy that set my skin tingling.
"Spirit, I draw you forth," I said. "I bind you to the life that has taken root..."
The longer I read, the more the air seemed to charge around me. I felt my limbs tingling, the soil around my feet beginning to tremble. My frightened eyes met Enzo's, but he simply nodded, giving me the strength I needed to continue.
"Spirit of my twin sister, Selena, I bind you to the flesh of my flesh!"
No sooner had I finished the words than a blinding light had erupted from the earth beneath our feet, its brilliance so intense that I had to shield my eyes. A warmth, like being covered in a blanket, enveloped me, comforting me.
And then, emanating outward from the radiance, I heard it—a whisper on the wind, a voice so achingly familiar that it immediately brought tears to my eyes.
"Thank you, sister," Selena's voice murmured, a slender form seeming to materialize out of the white light." Thank you."
And then, just as quickly as it had come, the light faded, plunging us back into the stillness of the night. I blinked,
my eyes adjusting to the sudden darkness, my heart pounding in my ears.
"Nina?" Enzo's voice broke the silence. "Are you alright?"
Before I could respond, his arms were around me, his lips pressed against mine. I melted into his embrace, my fingers tangling in his hair as I returned his kiss.noveldrama
The moonlight filtered through the opening at the top of the tent, bathing our bodies in a soft blue, almost ethereal, glow. Enzo's hands roamed the contours of my waist, his calloused fingers leaving a trail of fire in their wake. I arched into his embrace, a breathless whimper escaping my lips as his mouth found the sensitive curve of my neck.
With deft and well-practiced movements, he pulled the nightgown off over my head, his lips trailing feathery kisses across my skin. I trembled beneath his touches, my fingers tangling in his hair as I pulled him closer, desperate to feel the warmth of his body against mine after so long.
"God, I missed this," he growled into my ear, his voice low and husky.
I couldn't help but smirk. "I've always been yours, Alpha."
He seemed to like that. With a low growl, he bucked his hips into me, his hands roaming the expanse of my body with a possessive hunger. I responded in kind, gently moving my legs aside to grant him access.
Slowly, he pressed his warm, hard cock into me, and that familiar filling sensation took over me and caused my back to arch of its own accord. I moaned softly, unable to fully contain my ecstasy.
Our movements became more frantic, more desperate, as we surrendered to our primal needs and ground our hips against one another. God, it had been so long since I had felt him inside of me. It had been so long since I had felt his lips blazing a scorching path down the column of my throat, his teeth grazing the sensitive flesh as he staked his claim.
I let out a soft whimper as he hit my g-spot, my body arching off the pallet. He pushed himself up onto one palm then, his other hand tracing in a slow circle around my breast until it reached my nipple. Then, he carefully pinched the sensitive skin there, causing a soft gasp to leak out from between my lips.
He smirked down at me, but didn't stop pinching my nipple. "Quiet," he murmured, lowering himself so that his low voice rumbled in my ear. "Don't want to wake anyone up." I shivered at his words; and the way he looked at me, so hungry and feral, made me pull my legs back to allow him to thrust deeper. Now, he was the one who was holding back moans. Or rather, growls.
As we reached our peak together, I clung to him, my nails raking down his back as I called out his name in hushed whispers.
"Shh," he cooed. His lips found mine, swallowing my cries as he followed me over the edge, his body shuddering against mine.
We lay tangled up with each other in the aftermath, our bodies slick with sweat and our breaths mingling in the stillness of the night. Neither of us spoke, but we didn't need to; all we needed were our bodies, the feeling of our skin against one another as we slowly drifted off to sleep.
Enzo's arms tightened around me as we drifted off, forcing the breath out of my lungs in the most delicious of
ways.
