Chapter 19 Ge152

Looking at myself in the mirror, I tried to force a smile. I told myself to smile today and to be happy every day from now on.

When I went downstairs, Ethan and Tessa had already prepared breakfast. The house was decorated with new couches and tableware, items usually reserved for special occasions.

"Elaine, after you and Logan get your marriage certificate, come back so we can celebrate and discuss the wedding details," Tessa exclaimed, her excitement seemingly surpassing mine.

"Sure," I agreed with a nod.

Tessa looked me over approvingly. "You look great today. It would be even

better if you wore white."

"It's a little too eye-catching to dress entirely in white," I explained.

"Don't listen to her nonsense," Ethan interjected. "Nowadays, people don't

wear white like they did back in our time. Elaine, wear whatever you like. Don't mind what she says."

I smiled, a warm sensation washing over me.

Tessa pulled me over to the dining table.

Besides the usual lavish breakfast, there were two eggs and a sausage arranged in a way that immediately made me blush.

Before I could ask, Tessa leaned in and whispered, "This is a secret ritual passed down from your grandmother. It symboNoraes the early birth of a child. I don't have a preference for a boy or girl; I just hope you and Logan have a baby soon." My face flushed, and I couldn't bring myself to eat the eggs and sausage.

"Just eat a little of everything for formality's sake," Tessa said with a smile as she peeled an egg for me and handed it over.

Since it was something she wanted, I couldn't refuse her. Blushing, I took a bite of everything and then focused on drinking the potato soup.

It wasn't until I was nearly finished that I realized Logan was missing from the dining table. "Tessa, where's Logan?"

"He hasn't come down yet," Tessa replied.

Right then, we heard footsteps on the staircase. Logan descended, but I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination-he seemed visibly tense. My heart sank slightly as I watched him approach. "Elaine, I've consulted Mr. Cain. He said the best time for us to get our marriage certificate is precisely 10:58 a.m. We don't need to go so early."

"Oh," I responded softly. For some reason, the joy I had secretly felt disappeared.

I knew about Alexander Cain. He was Logan' trusted fortune-teller.

Tessa and Ethan quickly agreed. "We'll do as Mr. Cain says," Tessa said cheerfully.

Logan sat down to eat breakfast. Despite the lavish spread, he finished quickly. He didn't quite wolf the food down, but he ate faster than usual. When Tessa handed him the eggs and sausage that I hadn't eaten, he quietly ate them without a word.

"Elaine, wait for me at home. I need to go and prepare something," he said

with an air of mystery.

Tessa winked at me, mouthing that he was preparing a gift for me.

Remembering his comment last night about a prize for being first, I natur ally assumed this was it. I watched him leave before heading upstairs. Just as I was taking off my coat, my phone rang. It was Victor.

"Good morning, Mrs. Mercer," he greeted warmly.

It seemed Victor already knew I was getting married to Logan today.

I put on a small smile, "Good morning, Mr. Langston, is something the matter?"

"Ms. Hart, I'm sending you an address. Please come over now, be waiting for you there. Mr. Mercer has a gift for you," Victor said, his tone mysterious, "Okay," I agreed and hung up.

A moment later, Victor sent me an address: Dazzle Residences,

I drove over and found Victor already waiting for me. Without saying much, he handed me a set of keys. Only then did I realize what the gift was-a house. Logan knew me well. He understood that no matter how comfortable things were at the Mercer estate, I would still want a space of my own.

My heart swelled with a mix of emotions-sweet, warm, and just a little bittersweet.noveldrama

Happily, I took the keys and opened the door to a brightly lit, beautifully furnished room.

But as I stepped inside, just one foot over the threshold, a familiar figure emerged from the bedroom.

I froze, my breath catching in my throat.

Standing there in a sleeping gown was Selene.
