Logan's voice was cold and biting as he spoke. "You're despicable."
He grabbed Ashton by the collar, his anger radiating off him in waves. Get 5 >

I flinched at the sudden aggression and started to move toward them, but Ashton's calm voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Is your idea of despicable that I'm treating Elaine with the care you never bothered to show her, Mr. Mercer?" Ashton asked, his tone steady and unshaken.
Logan's eyes narrowed, his grip tightening on Ashton's collar. "Ashton, these cheap tricks you use to impress her won't fool Elaine. She doesn't like this kind of fantasy, you know?"
His words made me pause.
Didn't I? Was that true?noveldrama
I thought back to our first Valentine's Day together, after Logan and I officially became a couple. He hadn't gotten me flowers, a gift, or even taken me out for dinner.
The next day, we had dinner with Caleb and some friends. Caleb had teased me, asking how Logan had spent Valentine's Day with me.
I remembered how humiliated I felt in that moment. Later, Logan had apologized, claiming he had simply forgotten. I had no choice but to play along, pretending I didn't care about those things.
But deep down, I had always wondered-what kind of girl didn't like flowers and romance?
The truth was, Logan had never given me those things.
"Do you still think she doesn't like it?" Ashton asked quietly, his gaze unwavering.
Logan turned to look at me. I didn't know if he could still see the tears on my face, but I knew he had seen them earlier. If he had any sense at all, he'd know why I was crying.
The tears weren't just for the memory of my parents. They were also for Ashton-for the effort he had put into giving me something so meaningful.
Every meal he cooked, every quiet moment he spent protecting me, even this personalized light display... it all spoke of the love Ashton had for me.
After a long moment, Logan finally looked away. But his expression remained cold as he turned back to Ashton
"Elaine loves me. We've been together for ten years. She would give up her life for me," Logan said defensively.
Ashton's lips pressed into a thin line as he stayed silent.
Logan sneered. "Don't believe me? Look at the small scar on her left middle finger. That's proof. She got that scar for me."
Instinctively, I pulled my hand back.
So he remembered the scar. But did he remember the promise he made to me.back then?
The promise to make up for the pain with a ring?

No. He didn't. Because if he had, he wouldn't have betrayed me by being with someone else.
Ashton's voice cut through my thoughts. "But how have you treated the girl who would risk her life for you?"
Logan looked taken aback, his smugness faltering.
Ashton gripped Logan's wrist tightly, his voice low but firm. "Mr. Mercer, it's because you didn't cherish her that I have the chance. Do you understand?"
With that, Ashton yanked Logan's hand away.
I stepped forward then, linking my arm with Ashton's. Without a word, I said, "It's getting late. Let's go." Ashton gave me a soft, loving look before following me out.
On the way back, neither of us spoke. The only sounds were our footsteps echoing in the quiet night. When we reached the door, Ashton turned to me and said, "Goodnight."
"Ashton," I called softly.
He stopped, looking back at me. Under the dim light of the hallway, I moved closer to him.
"Do you really not mind my past? Do you really want to be with me?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly. "Isn't it obvious enough?" he replied gently.
It was. Everything he had done made it clear. If I continued to doubt him, it would be an insult to his efforts.
"Ashton," I said again.
Then, without hesitation, I leaned in, stood on my toes, and kissed him.
I felt his body tense in surprise, but I wrapped my arms around his waist and whispered, "Let's be together."
