"Waiting for me? And?" I muttered to myself, glancing briefly at the message from Selene. Did she really think I'd rush to see her just because she said so? Who did she think she was?
Without hesitation, I ignored her text, my fingers dismissively tapping the screen. Logan, sitting beside me, didn't notice the message flash across the dashboard.
"Elaine, do you seriously not want me anymore?" Logan's voice cracked slightly as his reddened eyes bore into me.
I hated repeating myself. The frustration built within me, and I couldn't help but retort, "What do I have to do to make you realize that I'm serious? Marry Ashton?"
I had already kissed Ashton in front of Logan to end this once and for all, yet Logan had dismissed it as a ploy to provoke him.
"Elaine!" he growled, my name slipping through his gritted teeth. It was his signature display of anger, one that used to make me uneasy. But now? It didn't faze me at all.noveldrama
Was this what it felt like to stop caring about someone?
I met his gaze, my voice steady and unyielding. "Logan, we're truly over. So over that even if you were the last man on earth, I still wouldn't choose you."
The words were harsh, cruel even, but I was exhausted by his relentless pursuit. I needed him to understand.
His face twisted in pain, his throat tightening as though he were choking on his emotions. He stared at me, silent, for what felt like an eternity.
Even though I didn't look directly at him, I could feel the waves of emotion in his gaze-anger, frustration, heartbreak, and despair.
"Don't regret this, Elaine," he murmured, his voice trembling.
My knuckles whitened as my grip on the steering wheel tightened. "I won't."
"What if something bad happens to me? An accident, maybe? Will you regret it then?" he asked suddenly, his voice unusually soft.
I turned to look at him, confused by his sudden shift in tone. His eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"Elaine," he continued, his voice cracking. "I know I made mistakes. I know I hurt you. I've been trying- trying so hard to make it right, to get you to forgive me..." He shook his head, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Do I need to beg on my knees?"
For the first time in a long while, I saw genuine remorse in Logan's eyes. He wasn't hiding behind his usual arrogance or anger. He was laying himself bare.
I had known, deep down, that he regretted his actions. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to win me back.
But I had already made my decision.
"I don't need you to do anything, Logan," I said quietly. "Because no matter what you do, it's over."
He let out a bitter laugh. "How cold. How cruel. It's like you've sentenced our relationship to death." 0.16:10

I didn't respond. That was exactly what I had done.

Logan nodded as though accepting the finality of my words. He turned his face away, but not before I caught a glimpse of him wiping the corners of his eyes. Was he crying?
For a brief moment, my heart twisted.
"Stop the car," Logan ordered abruptly.
I pressed the brakes and brought the car to a stop. Without another word, he stepped out and walked away without looking back.
I watched him through the windshield as he removed his suit jacket and held it in his hand. He kicked the
air a few times, venting his frustration, before trudging off into the distance.
At that moment, I knew: Logan and I were truly, completely over.
Meanwhile, Selene seemed to grow uneasy as I continued to ignore her. She called me, but I declined immediately.
Not one to give up easily, she sent another text:
> "Hey, Elaine. I just want to talk to you about something. I mean no harm. I'll still be here waiting for you."
Her last line was clearly meant to pressure me, but I didn't care. She could wait all night for all I cared. #) 16:10
