More Than A Favor (Elaine and Logan)

A Favor 119

Maya's frantic words immediately sent a chill down my spine. "What happened? Slow down. Tell me everything," I urged. Get 5 >

"A group of scary punks came to the amusement park looking for Mr. Drake," she said, her voice trembling.

Hearing that, I exhaled in relief. It wasn't some catastrophic incident, just a group of troublemakers targeting Ashton.

While Maya sounded utterly terrified, I wasn't overly concerned. I had an inexplicable confidence in Ashton. Somehow, I just knew no one could harm him.

"Did they get physical?" I asked calmly.

"No, not yet. They haven't found Mr. Drake. They're asking around, but they'll be here soon," she replied shakily. "Elaine, what should we do? Should we call the cops?"

I paused to think for a moment. "No, not yet. First, find Ashton and figure out what's going on. Let him decide whether to involve the police."

I wasn't sure what the punks wanted, so it seemed best to let Ashton take the lead.

"Got it," Maya said. "Elaine, are you coming here?"

"Of course," I replied without hesitation.

How could I sit back when Ashton might be in trouble? Besides, I had a nagging suspicion that this

incident was related to Logan. He'd warned me earlier about consequences for Hueton Corporation. If he were involved, Ashton would undoubtedly get dragged into it.

I grabbed my bag and called Logan as I hurried out of the office.

Just as I passed Alex's office, he stepped out and caught sight of me. "Where are you heading?" he asked immediately.

I ignored him, waiting for Logan to pick up the phone.

"I'm talking to you, Ms. Hart. Where are you going?" Alex repeated.

Before I could respond, Logan's voice came through on the line. "What's up? Changed your mind already?"

"Did you send your men to the amusement park?" I asked bluntly.

"What men? What are you talking about?" Logan replied, sounding genuinely confused.

His response caught me off guard. Logan wasn't one to deny his actions, especially when it came to using underhanded tactics. If he had sent people to target Ashton, he would have admitted it outright.

So, this wasn't his doing.

"Well, you'd better not lie to me. And stay away from Ashton," I said sharply before ending the call.

Logan called back almost immediately, but I ignored it.

When I arrived at the amusement park, I quickly spotted Ashton surrounded by several burly men-just as Maya had described.

She tugged anxiously on my sleeve. "Elaine, Mr. Drake said not to call the cops. I'm so worried, though. Shouldn't we dial 911 anyway?"noveldrama

I didn't answer, instead stepping closer to hear the men threatening Ashton.

"If you wanna live, stay in your lane. You should know better than to cross the line," one of them growled. Ashton stood tall and unflinching, his expression calm and fearless. "Ah, so someone's guilty. That's why you're here to threaten me," he said, his voice steady.

"Save your arrogance and worry about yourself," the bald leader of the group sneered. The sunlight glinted off his shiny head, making him look almost comical despite the tense situation.

Ashton's response sent chills down my spine. "I'm not someone who acts without considering the consequences. If you want me to stop, you'd better stop first. I'm not afraid of you-come at me."
