Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 713

As the smoke curled around them, he let out a soft laugh. "I'll co-parent the kids with her, but I'm not looking to remarry anytime soon."

Reflecting on his six-year marriage with Selena, he realized it hadn't been exactly joyful. Plus, he just didn't feel anything for her now-nothing strong enough to consider taking her back.

When it came to their kids, he'd accept that reality. But as for everything else? He needed to think it over.

Carolina's tense heart finally eased. If Everett had lingering feelings for Selena, things would get tricky. Her son was always headstrong, not one to be easily persuaded.

Luckily, as his mom, she still had some say in things.

"Everett, even though you have a son and daughter, the whole heir thing isn't urgent. But Bennett Corporation needs a woman at the helm. And let's face it, juggling work and kids isn't easy for a single guy. A woman to manage the home while you conquer the business world could be a game-changer."

She paused, dropping a hint. "Your taste in partners hasn't changed, right? I've got someone in mind who's just right."

Everett's eyes narrowed slightly. His ideal partner? Educated, elegant, someone who shared his interests, beautiful, with a touch of class. Definitely not the clingy type.

Unlike Selena.

Everett's gaze settled on Carolina. "Mom, just lay it out for me."

Seeing he wasn't shutting her down, Carolina smiled and got straight to the point.

"What do you think about Joy? You guys grew up together, thick as thieves. She's exactly what you're looking for."noveldrama

She glanced over to the other room. Joy was there, helping Mateo with his Lego set, not an ounce of impatience, looking every bit like she belonged.

"These days, a lot of young women are demanding and don't want to be

stepmoms. Even if they say they ret

fine with t before marriage, that often changes afterward. But Joy's different. She's Mateo's godmother and has always treated him well. Mateo really likes her."

"Compared to bringing in someone completely new as a mom for Mateo, Joy's practically perfect, right?"

Ava, carrying a tray of freshly sliced fruit, nearly dropped it when she overheard Carolina's pitch. She was stunned!

Carolina was actually suggesting Joy as a new wife for him. And the kicker? Joy was tight with his ex-wife, and she didn't seem to care at all...

What a tangled web!

Later that evening, Everett and Mateo were having dinner together.

At the big dining table, it was just the two of them. Mateo, used to a bustling household, couldn't help but miss his mom, sister, and uncle. His appetite was lacking, and thefood didn't hit the spot.

Everett's eyes scanned his son, reading him like an open book.

He didn't mind the quiet himself—it never bothered him. But raising Mateo meant being responsible. He didn't want to nurture an heir who was emotionally out of sorts

GUMS

Maybe it was time to bring someone else into the fold.

Putting down his knife and fork, he dabbed his mouth with a napkin, his eyes steady on his son.

Carefully, he asked, "Mateo, how do you feel about Joy?"
