Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 691

As dawn broke, the sky began to slowly brighten outside. It had been nearly ten hours since Selena vanished. Everett knew that with every passing moment, the danger heightened. He had pushed her away, hoping she could lead a happy, peaceful life-not end up like this!

"Selena, hold on. You have to be okay!" Everett's mind was racing, sifting through the people Selena interacted with regularly. Suddenly, a face popped into his mind. He snapped his eyes open and turned to Alex, his voice cold and urgent, "Track down Yasmine."

Alex raised a brow, surprised. "You think it's Yasmine? But Blaine already sent her off to South America..."

Everett cut him off, his tone firm. "Just do it!"

"On it, sir!"

...

Selena had lost track of time. Exhausted and parched, her body ached from being tied up in the same position for hours. Then she felt herself being moved. After a while, she was dumped onto the ground, and the lid above her was yanked off.

The sudden brightness was blinding, making her wince. Slowly, she adjusted and opened her eyes to see an endless ocean sprawling before her. She was stuffed in a large barrel, only her head sticking out, perched dangerously at the cliff's edge. Below, the waves pounded fiercely against the rocks, riding the wild wind.

Selena guessed she must be in a nearby city, as Northtown had nothing like this. Someone approached and ripped the tape from her mouth, the roughness making her wince.

She looked up to see Yasmine. In the span of a few months, Yasmine had

transformed drastically. Once struggling, she now flaunted wealth, but her lack of taste made her look like a tacky nouveau riche. Her outfit was revealing, her jewelry cheap. Once poor but tidy, she now reeked of excessive flashiness. It was unsettling.

Selena couldn't help but frown.

Yasmine caught her expression and flew into a rage. "Selena, how dare you look down on me? Everything I am today is because of you!"noveldrama

"Do you even know what I've been through these past months?"

et no

"Your lover is ruthless-no, he listened to you. You're the ruthless one! You had me shipped off to a place like South America. I had. money, no food, and had to serve those filthy, disgusting old men!"

Her face twisted with fury. "They paid a measly hundred bucks to sleep with me. To them, I wasn't human, just an animal! I didn't make myself beautiful and suffer so much for these repulsive men. It was all for Mr. Everett."

"Selena, you were scared Mr. Everett would fall for me, so you ruined me, using such underhanded tactics to tear us apart!" She accused, her voice wild with anger.

"You ruined me, Selena. Do you think you and Mr. Everett will live happily ever after? Ha! No way! I'm going to ruin you too!"

She pulled out a knife, its blade catching the light with a menacing glint.

"Mr. Everett only likes your face, right? Once I've slashed it, let's see how you plan to seduce him!" With a vicious thrust, she aimed the knife at Selena's face.

Selena instinctively shut her eyes, bracing for pain.

She heard the chilling sound of the knife hitting flesh.

But she felt nothing.

The next second, she snapped her eyes open to see Everett had somehow gotten

in front of her, holding her tight. The knife was embedded in his back.

Her eyes widened in shock.

Everett's lips moved, as if trying to comfort her, but words didn't come. Instead, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
