Chapter 658
Selena gently placed her hand on her belly, softly caressing it. It was as if the baby inside could sense her emotions, for a tiny fist pressed against her palm, offering a silent cheer. Tears welled up in her eyes. Her little one truly felt like an angel sent from above, just like her Mateo and the baby girl growing inside her. They were the greatest gifts of her life.
As the car pulled into the school and parked in a designated spot, Selena noticed the parking area was filled with a line of luxury cars. Parents' Day at this elite private school was more about flaunting wealth and prestige than anything else.
When Everett arrived, the principal himself greeted him, practically beaming with delight and compliments. "Mr. Everett, we're so honored you could join us today despite your busy schedule. If there's anything you need, just let me know..."
Everett was dressed in casual matching outfits Selena had picked out-simple sweatshirts and jeans. His hair fell casually over his forehead, giving him a youthful charm, a stark contrast to the cold, intimidating aura he had in a suit. Yet, even with a slight frown, he commanded attention.
"I'm here as a father today, not for any special treatment. Please treat me like any other parent," he insisted. His main goal was to spend time with his wife and child, trying to impress Selena. The principal, oblivious to his real intentions, was just getting in the way.
The principal's smile froze, unsure why his flattery wasn't hitting the mark, but he quickly got the hint and stepped back.
Everett walked over to Selena, wrapping his long arm around her waist, gently supporting her. "It's crowded here. Let me hold you so you don't trip," he said, using it as an excuse to stay close.
Selena, wanting to showcase their love today, leaned into him and teased, "You better hold on tight, Everett darling."
Everett blinked, momentarily confused. "What did you call me?"
Their son Mateo, who was skipping ahead, overheard. Lately, Ava had been watching period dramas and sometimes had Mateo watching with her, so he'd picked up a few things. He blurted out, "Mom called you Everett darling. Are you a servant, Dad?"
Everett felt as if he'd been hit right in the chest. He tightened his grip and looked down at Selena, gritting his teeth. "Selena, if I were a servant, how have I been making you so happy lately, hmm?"
Selena, now a mother of two, had developed a thicker skin, but his blunt, teasing comments still made her ears turn red. Especially in public.
"Shut up," she snapped, both annoyed and embarrassed.
Everett wasn't fazed. Since their divorce, her attitude towards him had been lukewarm at best. Stirring her emotions was something he relished. "Selena, you weren't telling me to shut up when you were enjoying yourself, were you?"
In truth, their intimate moments were all about considering her needs and making
her happy. He rarely indulged fully himself. But if it meant winning her back, he was willing to do whatever it took.
In that moment, her cheeks were a
rosy hue, more beautiful than any flower, and he couldn't resist leaning in to kiss her cheek. In thenoveldrama
