Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 656

Selena's lips curled into a sly smile.

Even with Everett's protection, Yasmine couldn't outrun her own foolishness. If she'd just stayed in Italy, it would've been much harder for Selena to reach her. So, Selena had deliberately stirred the pot, knowing it would lure Yasmine back into her web.

Blaine was amazed. "How'd you know she'd come running back?"

Selena chuckled softly. "Women know women best," she said.

Yasmine had been on edge ever since Everett returned to Selena, and Selena had taken advantage of that by pretending to send messages to Yasmine from Everett himself.

First, she dangled a little hope in front of her. Then, she shattered it. Yasmine would think Everett still cared for her but was held back by something. How could she possibly stay away?

Women in love can be blindly confident and, let's face it, a bit irrational.

Blaine, who had seen his share of drama, was at a loss for words. He was no stranger to schemes and had survived many a tense moment, but the complexities of women's minds were beyond him.

Selena sneered, "You men are all clueless. What do you really see?"

Blaine, caught up in the crossfire, grumbled, "If you want to rant about your ex, go right ahead. Why drag me into it? I'm actually..." He was about to call himself a good guy, but he stopped short, laughing at his own expense.noveldrama

With a resigned chuckle, he admitted, "Alright, alright, I'm not exactly a saint either."

Good guys don't often last in this world.

"But I'm genuine with you," Blaine said earnestly. "Just remember that, and it's enough."

Selena was momentarily taken aback. Over time, she'd realized that Blaine had no romantic interest in her, even though his gaze was always intense and deep. Yet, she felt he was looking through her, lost in thoughts of someone else.

She didn't dwell on it much since they weren't exactly close friends. She paid him, he got things done-simple as that.

Then, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, and Selena felt Everett's chest warm against her back. His deep voice rumbled in her ear.

"Selena, who are you talking to?"

Though it sounded like a question, it was more of a statement.

Selena stayed calm, casually telling the person on the other end to catch up later before hanging up. She moved his hand away, turned to face him, and looked up.

"Blaine," she answered, straight as an arrow.

Everett already knew, of course. His people were keeping tabs on her, and he was aware of her recent dealings with Blaine.

A flash of displeasure crossed his face, but he eventually asked, "You two have been pretty close, huh?"

His tone had a mix of accusation and jealousy.

Selena sidestepped him, heading to the sofa. She picked up her prenatal vitamins from the coffee table, popping one before coolly replying, "Yep."

She didn't deny it or try to hide it.

Everett clenched his jaw, his eyes fixed on her serene, beautiful face. "The divorce is final. Why?"

Selena found it amusing and shot back without missing a beat.

"A charming lady like me always has suitors. Why do you think?"

Still not satisfied, she added, "Everett, don't forget, you're just my ex-husband

now. We're divorced. I'm free to do whatever I want!"

Selena definitely knew how to push his buttons.

Everett had thought that by being there for her especially after their recent closeness, he could win her back. He was already planning their remarriage after she gave birth But here he was, still just the ex-husband.
