Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 654

Yasmine paused on the other end, her voice dripping with disbelief when she finally spoke.

"How could it possibly be you?"

Selena sauntered over to the floor-to-ceiling window, her eyes lost in the vastness of the night sky.

A cold smile played on her lips as she shot back, "And why couldn't it be me?"

"You and Mr. Bennett are divorced. What gives you the right to answer his phone? And why are you two together at this hour?" Yasmine's voice was frantic and accusing.

Selena chuckled softly, "Didn't Everett mention it? He's already moved back to Seaside Villa and spends every night with me."

"Oh, right. You're not anyone special to him. He doesn't owe you any explanations."

Her words were icy and detached, hitting Yasmine square in the chest.

No title, no status, not even the right to question him.

At least before, Everett would often travel to Paris, mostly for business, but it meant she could see him.

Now, Selena was using her pregnancy to bind Mr. Bennett to her again.

Yasmine was seething, wishing Selena hadn't gotten pregnant again. Without that, there would've been nothing left between them post-divorce.

Perhaps Selena had the audacity to divorce Everett because she was pregnant. Even divorced, Mr. Bennett wouldn't easily let her go.

No, Everett likely didn't care about her just those two kids.

The more Yasmine thought, the angrier she got. She lashed out with the most venomous words she could muster.

She accused Selena of disgracing women, clinging to her ex-husband after the divorce, using the children as leverage for Mr. Bennett's sympathy. Without them, Selena would mean nothing to him.

Coming from a modest background, her words were crude and harsh, grating to the ears.

"Selena, all you've got are those sly tricks-either relying on your looks or the kids. It's truly pathetic."

While in Paris for cosmetic surgery, Yasmine had her face altered, too.

She knew she wasn't naturally stunning, and all men adored beautiful women. If she looked better, she might just outshine Selena.

She spent a fortune on surgery and took etiquette classes to become flawless. She wanted to be the enviable Mrs. Bennett.

But she couldn't let Selena ruin it all over again.

Selena found it all rather amusing.

She replied lazily, "I don't even need tricks. Everett? A mere wave, and he's here, impossible to chase away."

Yasmine didn't buy it, screaming madly on the other end.

"Stop feeding me lies. I'm the one in Mr. Bennett's heart. If you hadn't meddled, we'd have been together ages ago. Selena, if you have any self-respect, stop trying to cling to your ex-husband with your O schemes!"

Selena scoffed.

At that moment, the shower stopped running.

She decided not to waste any more words on Yasmine but didn't hang up the

phone, just placed it on the coffee table nearby.

The bathroom door swung open, and a man stepped out, a towel wrapped around

his waist. His long strides brought him into the room.

Droplets of water trickled down his well-sculpted body, disappearing into the

towel, a picture of pure allure.

Everett was toweling off his hair

when he noticed Selena in the room. A bit surprised, he then gave a slight

smile, "What brings you in here?"

Though he had moved back in, Selena usually gave him the cold shoulder. It was always him putting in the effort, and on her good days,

she might throw him a

glance.

But men often loved the chase.

Her hot-and-cold demeanor only made him more captivated.noveldrama

Selena met his gaze, her voice calm yet boldly straightforward, "Tonight, how about you stay with me?"
