Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 581

After putting her son to bed and ensuring he was sound asleep, Selena finally returned to the master bedroom. Everett was still in his study and hadn't come back, but she didn't mind. After a relaxing bath, she sat in front of the vanity in her nightgown, carefully applying

her skincare and body lotion. A gentle fragrance filled the air around her.

When Everett entered the bedroom, he was greeted by an utterly captivating sight. Selena was bent slightly forward, her hands coated in lotion as she gently massaged her slender legs. Her skin was smooth and creamy, her waist so slim it seemed like you couldn't quite wrap your hands around it, and the glimpse of her exposed leg was both fair and tender. He felt as if she wasn't massaging her leg but tugging at his heart instead. Everything about her was just right, except for the fact that her heart seemed to be elsewhere, unwilling to come back to him. A familiar fire ignited in Everett's chest again, and he strode over, standing behind her and trapping her between the vanity and his arms. "Selena," he said, his voice carrying a hint of something unspoken. One look into his fiery eyes, and Selena's heart skipped a beat, knowing exactly what he wanted. But she wasn't interested.

They had just ended on a sour note, and she wasn't in the mood to share a bed with him. Trying to dodge a confrontation, she said softly, "I'm a bit tired today, I want to head to bed early."

"Besides, I promised our son I'd take him to the museum tomorrow, and I want to show him around a bit..." Since they were going to settle in Newport, getting little Mateo familiar with the city seemed like a good idea.

To Everett, though, everything she was saying sounded like excuses. If she had just explained her meeting with Callum, he might have let it go, but she refused to talk, and now she was even backing away from him as her husband... Clearly, she wasn't budging an inch. Everett couldn't hold back any longer. He hoisted her up onto his shoulder and tossed her onto the bed. Pinning her wrists above her head, he leaned down, capturing her lips in a deep, fervent kiss.

"Mmm..." Selena turned her face, trying to evade him, but he wouldn't have it. He freed a hand to grip her jaw, holding her still, and parted her lips, diving in with reckless abandon. Tears prickled at her eyes, and her chest heaved with anger.

She didn't hold back and bit him

hard. He grunted, the metallic taste of blood spreading between them. Everett lifted his head, a trickle of red at the corner of his mouth, his eyes dark and stormy. noveldrama

"What's gotten into you now?" Selena snapped, her voice sharp.

"Everett, some things never change. With this attitude, how can you expect me to fall for you again?"

"To be blunt, if it wasn't for little Mateo, there's no way we'd be back together!"

Everett's grip on her chin tightened as he warned, "Selena, take that back!"
