Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

For some reason, she couldn't shake the feeling that his timing was just too perfect. She had planned to sneak into the engagement party, keeping a low profile and not stirring up any drama. She just wanted to see her son and get a sense of who Jenny really was. As a mom, she needed to figure out the character of her son's soon-to-be stepmom, especially since she hadn't secured custody yet. Her son would have to get along with this woman for now.

She hesitated for a moment.

Callum glanced at her, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. "Is something up?"

Selena absentmindedly stirred her coffee, her thick lashes casting shadows over her eyes as she pondered how to politely decline. But with the recent complications involving Everett, her relationship with Dr. Campbell had become increasingly tangled.

Plus, with Gabriel always opposing them, his sudden willingness to meet her must have taken a lot of effort on Callum's part. It would seem pretty rude to turn it down now.

Since she had agreed to give Callum a fair shot, she couldn't just back out now. That wouldn't be fair to him.

At worst, she could rush to the engagement party after meeting Gabriel. Surely, the party wouldn't wrap up too early...

After a bit of thinking, Selena cleared her eyes of any emotion and shook her head at Callum. "Nope, not at all."

"Meeting Gabriel is quite an honor for me."

Callum's smile broadened, and in that moment, it felt like all the walls between them crumbled. He caught a glimpse of her trying to reach out to him.

As a gentle rain began to fall outside, Callum insisted on driving Selena home, and she went along with it.

When they reached Brook's house, Selena unfastened her seatbelt, ready to step out, but Callum's warm hand suddenly clasped her shoulder. She froze, turning back to him with a look of puzzlement.

Unexpectedly, she found herself

locked in Callum's deep, intense gaze, his eyes fixed on her lips, his

handsome face showing unmistakable longing.

Selena wasn't naive; she knew exactly what he wanted. Her back stiffened instinctively, her fingers clutching the leather seat.

He leaned closer, his breath now warm against her skin.

The realization hit her that her first instinct was discomfort, maybe even a need to pull away, and her heart raced wildly.

Maybe... she just hadn't fully gotten used to Callum as her boyfriend yet...

But as a couple, this sort of thing was natural. Dodging it would be hurtful.

Selena swallowed hard, trying to stay put and act normal.

Callum noticed every little reaction, too thrilled to see her soft profile and tender lips, he couldn't resist wanting to kiss her.

And he'd waited for what seemed like forever. As a man with natural desires, how could he not want her?

He'd always held back, not wanting to scare her. After all, she'd always seen him as a true gentleman.

Those lips he'd dreamed about were right there for the taking. If he wanted, he could go for it. Yet, he also noticed her hesitation and unease, even though she was trying hard to hide it.

Callum understood that their time together had been too short for her feelings to blossom into love. Even though he got that, it was stilba bit of a letdown.

If they had stayed in Germany, he wouldn't have to rush; he could win her heart at a more comfortable pace But things hadn't work that way.
