Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 523

Selena was clearly peeved. "We don't owe you any explanation about our relationship." Even though their divorce wasn't final yet, that was only because he kept dragging his feet. To her, their marriage had ended ages ago. Whether she was seeing someone else or not, her conscience was clear, and he had no right to butt in.

Everett's lips were pressed into a thin, cold line, a vein pulsing faintly at his temple. This woman could now stand up to him over anyone, acting like he didn't even matter. He was fuming, but right now, he didn't want things to get any more tense between them. "Get up, we're having lunch. We'll talk about heading back after we eat."

Selena was taken aback. She eyed him skeptically. "Really?"

Everett kept his cool, not saying a word, looking like he couldn't care less if she believed him or not. Then he leaned down, trying to scoop her up.

"What are you doing?" Selena instinctively pushed him away.

"What? You think you can walk to the dining room by yourself?"

As he spoke, Everett assertively picked her up in his arms.

Selena was speechless. She couldn't even stand straight, let alone walk. Her legs felt like jelly, and she noticed bruises on her knees from when that jerk had his way with her on the couch last night. She glared at him, wishing she could kick him overboard to feed the sharks.

The wind had been fierce last night, but today the sea was calm, with the sun shining warmly. The sunlight danced across the water, making it sparkle beautifully.

The deck was set with tables and chairs, covered with various seafood dishes that looked expertly prepared, their aroma mouthwatering.

Selena was placed onto a chair with a soft cushion, feeling no discomfort.

Everett draped a blanket over her before sitting across from her. He didn't eat, focusing instead on. peeling shrimp, cracking crab shells, and carefully picking out fish bones with chopsticks. en

Soon, a plate piled high with meat was set in front of Selena.

She watched him silently. This kind of service was something the Bennett family's eldest son would never do yet here he was, handling it like he'd practiced on someone else. In truth, she didn't care who it was, astong as he didn't latch onto her.

Still, there he was, trying to win her over with these gestures, which was really annoying. Selena didn't touch the plate of meat. To regain some

strength, she focused on eating rice, managing to finish two bowls.

Seeing this, Everett felt a pang of disappointment.

By five in the afternoon, the yacht was slowly docking. A group of people was already waiting at the port. Everett wanted to carry Selena off the boat, but she refused, choosing to walk down slowly on her own.

"Selena, are you okay?"noveldrama

Callum rushed over, grabbing Selena's shoulders and looking her over.

Everett's gaze landed on those hands, his eyebrows knitting together, his eyes growing cold.

Selena shook her head slightly, "I'm fine."

Even though she said so, the look in her eyes and face gave away what had happened during the nearly day and night she'd spent with Everett.

Callum's Adam's apple bobbed as he tried to keep his anger in check, gently pulling Selena aside. Then, turning back, he threw a heavy punch right at Everett's face.
