Chapter 1210
Chapter 1210 Revelations and Accusations
But things did not go as he had thought they would.
The man drew a slow breath from his cigarette, his gaze shifting to the driver and the silent vigil of bodyguards beside him. "Let's make our way back to the city," he murmured with a hint of urgency.
"Go to the hospital. We're heading to Aunt Dorothy's ward."
The hospital loomed ahead, its sterile halls echoing with subdued whispers and the soft tread of nurses' shoes.
In a quiet room, bathed in the gentle glow of afternoon light filtering through sheer curtains, a middle-aged woman lay in serene repose upon crisp white sheets.
Beside her sat Jude, his features etched with concern and weariness, his eyes never leaving her face.
The man gently clasped his mother's hand, a fleeting smile touching his lips. "Mom, I'll honor your wishes."
"At the end of the day, he's my father by flash and blood. I can't take matters into my own hands," Jude asserted quietly.
"This time around, Damien and Colin want to confront Father. It's out of my hands," Jude added.
Dorothy's hand twitched ever so slightly, a subtle movement that could have conveyed either satisfaction or discontent-it was difficult to discern her true feelings.noveldrama
Shortly thereafter, the door to the private room swung open with a whisper of hinges.
Colin strode in first, his presence commanding yet tinged with concern, followed closely by Damien and Cherise, their expressions a blend of determination and apprehension.
Bringing up the rear, Anthony was flanked by two imposing figures who escorted him with a firm grip.
As they entered, Damien gestured subtly to the bodyguards, signaling for them to release Anthony and withdraw discreetly.
With a soft click, the door closed behind them, enveloping the room once more in a hushed atmosphere fraught with unspoken tension.
"Uncle Anthony," Damien began ominously.
Settling onto a nearby sofa, Damien shifted into a more relaxed posture, drawing Cherise close beside him. His gaze casually flickered towards Anthony. "It's been quite a while since our paths crossed," Damien remarked casually.
"I nearly didn't recognize you when I arrived in Yatesville and caught sight of you," Damien added, his tone icy.
Anthony had once been intimately connected with the Lenoir family, but their ties faded when Damien was just three, amidst the Gray family's turbulent times. After receiving crucial financial aid from Hansen, Anthony lost touch with Damien.
He had presumed that a toddler like Damien wouldn't remember him, especially after so many years had passed.
Yet, Anthony had underestimated Damien's remarkable memory and sharp intellect.
While it was common for people not to recall events from such early childhood, Damien was an exception.
Damien had gone so far as to send a photograph of Anthony's recent photo to Maeve.
Her response had been immediate and filled with recognition: "Dame, that's him, our Uncle Anthony. It really is him."
"We lost contact throughout these years," Maeve continued. "I thought the connection to this side of the family had been severed."
In that critical moment, Damien's smile was knowing. "Maeve," he said softly, "Looks like I'll be bringing you a surprise gift when I return home this time."
Maeve furrowed her brow on the other end of the line, her mind racing to guess the surprise. "What surprise do you have up your sleeve?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Bringing someone back," Damien replied cryptically.
There was a brief pause before Maeve blurted out excitedly, "Is Cherry pregnant with another baby? Are you going to have three kids?"
Damien was rendered momentarily speechless by his sister's imagination.
Now that they had Maeve's affirmations and the conclusive DNA test results from Colin and himself, Damien could finally be a hundred percent certain: Colin was undeniably one of the Lenoirs.
He pieced together the remaining fragments of the puzzle within a week.
Jude's confirmation of all his intuitions and conjecture later solidified Damien's understanding.
Reflecting deeply on these revelations, Damien looked up; his gaze chillingly focused on Anthony seated before him. "My dearest Uncle Anthony, never in my wildest dreams would I have believed that I was one-half of twins," he stated evenly.
"What's even more astonishing was that my twin brother was kidnapped by you," Damien added, a sharp edge creeping into his voice.
Fortunately, Raymond's wife, Wanda, remembered that Caitlin, Damien and Colin's birth mothers, had given birth to twin sons when Hansen was preoccupied and away from home.
Raymond had overseen all the hospital procedures for Caitlin's delivery during that critical period.
It was during this time that Anthony had visited Caitlin in the hospital before Hansen's return and promptly left.
Damien contemplated the sequence of events, piecing together his thoughts. It seemed likely to him that Anthony had secretly taken Colin away during that window of opportunity.
Anthony's denial was vehement. "I kidnapped him?! What are you even saying? That's absolute nonsense!"
"Accusing me of kidnapping? Where's your proof? You've got nothing, so why smear my name!" Anthony added defiantly, his words sharp with indignation. "The only reason why Colin was missing is because you Lenoirs were irresponsible and negligent! How does your family's failure have anything to do with me?" Anthony's voice rose, nearly shouting, his emotions raw and palpable.
What do you think?
