Chapter 30 The Evil Step Mother
The death of Hannah's father, her only surviving relative, cast a somber shadow over
her life, leaving her grappling with a myriad of emotions as she tried to come to terms with the void left by his absence. However, amidst the grief and sorrow, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of her dad's best friend, Kayanna, a woman who had stepped in to fill the void in Hannah's life left by her father's passing.
Hannah had initially welcomed her in Aunt Kay's presence and was grateful for her support and companionship during such a trying time. However, as days turned into weeks and weeks into months, Hannah noticed a shift in Kayann's behavior, a subtle change in the air that left her uneasy. The way Kayanna looked at her was creeping her out, and there seemed to be an amount of hatred for Hannah.
It soon became apparent that Kayanna was contacting Naomi, her stepmother. Naomi harbored ambitions far beyond a mere desire for companionship and support. This woman craved power, an insatiable hunger that seemed to consume her every thought and action. This thirst for power would ultimately drive a wedge between them and Hannah, setting them on a collision course that Hannah could not have anticipated. One fateful day, as they sat in the dimly lit study surrounded by the echoes of the past, Kayanna dropped a bombshell that would shatter the fragile peace between them. With a steely gaze, she declared that Naomi had been granted power of attorney over all his shares before Hannah's dad's death, effectively placing control of his vast empire in her hands. This revelation struck Hannah like a thunderbolt, leaving her reeling with disbelief and a sense of betrayal.
Hannah's heart sank as the implications of Naomi's words began to sink in. The realization that her father's legacy, the essence of his hard work and dedication, was now in the hands of a woman driven by ambition and greed left her feeling powerless and betrayed. Hannah was not fazed by Naomi or by Kayanna standing up for Naomi.
"How could you do this?" Hannah trembled with disbelief and anger as she confronted her stepmother. "My father's shares were meant to symbolize his love and dedication to his family, not a tool for you to wield for your gain. Furthermore, her Mother brought wealth to this family. Her husband managed all her belongings and left her for his secretary."
She asked to speak privately with Kayanna, and her aunt shocked her. Her expression remained impassive, her eyes cold and unyielding. "Your father made his decision willingly, knowing that Naomi was the one best suited to carry on his legacy," she countered, her voice dripping with arrogance.
As the weight of the words bore down on her, Hannah felt a surge of righteous indignation rising within her. Leaving everything to Naomi and Charmaine was not how her father's legacy was meant to be honored, not by someone who sought to use it as a stepping stone to greater power and influence.
At that moment, Hannah made a life-changing decision. With a steely determination, she vowed to uncover the truth behind her stepmother's claim to power and reclaim what was rightfully her father's. She knew the road ahead would be fraught with obstacles and challenges, but she also knew she had the strength and resilience to face them head-on. She had a plan B that Kayanna and Naomi knew nothing of, and she was ready to execute it.
Hannah had a secret that she had yet to reveal to Aunt Kayanna and Naomi. Her father's shares were not his. She had bought over the company a long time ago and had all the rights to it. She had planned to let her dad know she was the new owner, but time did not allow her to discuss it with him. Now that these two women believed they had the upper hand, she was ready to unveil her ownership and take them by surprise.
As the stars twinkled in the night sky outside the study window, casting a soft glow over the room, Hannah felt a profound sense of clarity and purpose. Her grandfather Sam's legacy was not just a symbol of his success but a testament to his hard work. With her dad gone, all that was his should rightfully go to his only surviving child, not someone unrelated to him. This realization fueled her determination to fight for what was rightfully hers.
She pondered when she stood face to face with her stepmother and aunt, a formidable opponent determined to hold on to the power they believed they had seized. Hannah knew that the battle for her father's legacy had just begun. With a renewed sense of determination burning within her, she took a deep breath. She prepared to fight for what was rightfully hers, ready to confront the darkness that lurked within her stepmother's heart and emerge victorious in the face of adversity.
She explained the situation to Darrian, who told her to give him three days. First, his lawyers would accompany Hannah when the will was read. Then, the police would follow as they arrested Naomi for kidnapping Ethan.
Finally, Kayanna would be left without instructions from Naomi. Hannah received the notice to attend the reading of the will. Darrian, Grandpa Martin, their lawyer, and Hannah's lawyer from Lewis & Lewis went to meet the family lawyer, Parker.
As they entered, Aunt Kayanna and Naomi sat before the lawyer in the conference room, waiting on them. As Parker read the will, everything would be left to Naomi and Charmaine as the sole benefactors. Lewis stood up, and so did Darrian's lawyer, Sebastian. Sebastian took out a document and handed it to Parker. The document stated that everything in the company was left to Hannah by her grandfather. The room fell into a stunned silence, the revelation hanging in the air like a heavy fog. Then Lewis took out his documents and passed them to the lawyer. This document stated that the company was bought over by Rose Company, which Hannah owned. Hearing this, Naomi stood up and furiously told Hannah that she owned all the shares again. Hannah's lawyer. Parker handed her the document and passed it to Naomi so she could read and clarify that Hannah was the sole owner of the entire company, including all holdings Naomi and her daughter owned. Her Stepmother Naomi screamed and shouted that this was all wrong. They heard a bang on the door a minute later when Darrian opened it. The police were standing, waiting to enter. They walked over to Naomi and told her she was under arrest for kidnapping Ethan. She defended herself and said it was not her but her daughter Charmaine who kidnapped Ethan. The police handcuffed Naomi and took her to the station. She will stay there until she got bail or the case is up for trial.
