Chapter 675
Chapter 675 A Race Against Time
*Selena*
My heart sank at my mother's sudden appearance. A wave of unease settled in my chest as I took in the solemn expression on her face.
"What's wrong, Mother?" I mumbled, dread creeping into my voice. "Why did you come so urgently to take me back to the Lunar Realm?"
She hesitated, her lips pressing together as if choosing her words carefully. "Selena, the day is coming... in three days," she finally said. "We need to find a way to save the world and to save-" She halted, stepping closer, her warm hand gently clasping mine. There was a softness in her gaze, a deep motherly affection that made my chest tighten. When she spoke again, her voice was barely above a whisper.
"You."
A sharp breath left my lips. Three days?! My mind raced, panic clawing at my chest. My hands instinctively moved to my belly, cradling the life growing inside me. Could my baby feel the storm raging inside me? The fear? The uncertainty? I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay strong.
I needed time.
"What's going on?" Zander frowned, his sharp gaze shifting between me and my mother. He moved to step into our conversation, but I placed a gentle hand on his chest, silently pleading with him to let me handle this.
"I told you about the day... and now, it's coming." My voice was steady, but the weight of those words pressed heavily on my chest.
Zander's brows furrowed in concern. "What?"
I forced a reassuring smile, reaching for his hand. "Don't worry, hubby. Let me talk to my mother. We will find a way."
Turning back to my mother, I took a deep breath and met her gaze with determination. "Okay, Mother," I said. "Give me one day. Let me finish what I started here, and then... I'll return to the Lunar Realm."
Her expression darkened, and she shook her head firmly. "I don't think that's a good idea, my dear." Her voice was heavy with urgency. "We've already lost too much time. We cannot afford to delay any longer."
I opened my mouth to protest, but her next words sent a chill down my spine.
"I have spoken to the God of Destruction. He has agreed to marry you, Selena. He will save the Lunar Realm."
The air seemed to leave my lungs. "What?" I whispered, my mind reeling.
Seeing the confusion in my eyes, she added quickly, "He promised, Selena. And gods never go back on their word."
Who knows? This was my first time truly understanding what it meant to be a half- goddess, the descendant of the Moon Goddess. I had never dealt with gods and goddesses before, and now... marriage to the God of Destruction?
"That's not going to happen," Zander interjected, his voice laced with frustration. His jaw tightened, and I could feel the tension radiating from him.
I placed a gentle hand on his chest, my touch a silent plea for understanding.
"Please, Zander," I whispered, looking up into his stormy eyes. "Trust me on this."
He exhaled sharply, his chest rising
and falling with the weight of his emotions. His jaw clenched, and I could see the reluctance in his eyes,
the silent war raging within him. But
the silent
after a long moment, he finally
nodded, though every fiber of his being seemed to resist it
But then, an idea struck me like lightning. A spark of hope ignited in my chest.
I turned to Zander, excitement filling my voice. "Zander, I have a plan." My heart pounded as the words tumbled out. "And if it works, trust me... all our problems will be solved in one shot."
"I'm listening," Zander said, his gaze steady as he waited for me to explain.
I took a deep breath. "I have a feeling
that Anne didn't act alone. Someone must have instructed her." My mind raced as pieced everything together. "If we play along with their game pretend they were
venet
successful in breaking us apart-we might be able to lure out the real culprit. And maybe... Oliver will show up as well."
Zander's jaw tightened, his expression darkening.noveldrama
"I don't know why, but I have a strong suspicion that Damon is involved," I continued. "He was always after me and my powers. His sudden silence... it doesn't sit right with me."
Zander's eyes flashed with understanding. "As you say, mate."
A slow, dangerous smile spread
across his lips. "Let's make our enemies believe they've won. Let them bask in their false victory-until their doom is right upon them. By then it'll be too late for them to regret their mistakes."
I matched his smile, a newfound determination settling in my heart.
A quiet sigh pulled our attention back to my mother. She gave a solemn nod, her expression unreadable.
"Then prepare to leave for the Lunar Realm,” she said firmly.
My heart clenched. The reality of what this meant hit me hard-I would have to be separated from my mate and our son. Even if it was temporary, a heavy unease settled in my chest, one I couldn't shake off.
