Her Heart Her Terms (Lily and Xavier)

Chapter 435

Xavier had to put on a protective coverall and undergo sterilization before being allowed into the ICU.

He walked to the bedside and looked down at Xyla, whose eyes were brimming with tears. The moment she saw him, she weakly raised her hand in an attempt to remove the oxygen mask covering her mouth.

"I'm here. Just say whatever you need to," Xavier said, tilting his head toward her mouth so she wouldn't have to remove the mask.

"Xavier, Bruce... He didn't hurt Lily, did he?" Xyla asked.

"No, he didn't," Xavier replied with a slight shake of his head.

"Can you forgive Sarah then?" Tears spilled from the corners of Xyla's eyes, her voice choked with emotion.

Xavier glanced at the monitors surrounding her, noting that her vitals were stable. After a moment of silence, he said seriously, "Xyla, let's talk about Sarah once you're better."

Xyla shook her head. "No. I want to see Sarah now."

"Then focus on getting better. As long as you stay alive, I promise you you'll see her again," Xavier reassured her.

A glimmer of hope flickered in Xyla's eyes. "Really? You'll help me save—"

"Be good, and don't think about that right now. Just rest," Xavier interrupted, tucking the blanket around her. "Once you're out of the ICU and stable, we'll figure everything out."noveldrama

Xyla had no choice but to place her trust in him. "Okay," she said with a nod.

After their brief conversation, Xavier left the ICU. He removed the protective coverall and went to the stairwell. Once there, he lit up a cigarette and took out his phone to give Timothy a call.

"Has Bruce's verdict been announced yet?"

"Not yet. It'll probably take a few more days." It was only 6:00 am, so Timothy's voice was thick with sleep.

Xavier exhaled a stream of smoke and said, "Delay it for now."

"Understood." Timothy was instantly wide awake. He couldn't help but wonder what had changed this time.

Lily hadn't expected Xavier to return so soon.

The Fultons had sent breakfast over, and as usual, Xavier ate with her. Apart from the first time when the delivery person forgot to bring an extra set of cutlery, everything had been prepared perfectly since then.

Lily no longer needed him to feed him, as she could manage on her own now. She drank her soup in small sips, a thin layer of sweat forming on her nose as her mind wandered.

Halfway through the meal, she couldn't help but ask again, "Is Xyla okay?" "She's fine. She's actually awake now," Xavier replied, sensing her concern. "Don't blame yourself. I'll take care of the matter properly."

He knew she was worried, and he also knew she was blaming herself.

Since yesterday, whenever Xyla was mentioned, Xavier had been comforting Lily. Knowing he didn't blame her, Lily couldn't help but feel a little warm and fuzzy inside.

Perhaps because Xavier had been so harsh with her in the past, Lily had subconsciously assumed that he would never side with her in any

situation. But this time was different.

After finishing his meal, Xavier pulled out a napkin and wiped the corner of his

mouth. Then, he gave her meticulous instructions.

"I have a meeting at the company today. Someone from the manor will bring lunch

at noon, so don't have Naomi buy anything for you."

Lily nodded. "Got it."

As she said that,

she noticed his

eyes were slightly bloodshot. Remembering he hadn't slept all

night, she said, "You don't have to et

come back here tonight. After you're

done with work, just rest in the lounge."

Xavier changed into his suit right in front of her, completely unfazed. As he buttoned his shirt, he asked, "What's this? Are you worried about me?"

Lily was speechless, thinking to herself that Xavier really was the type of person

who could forget any tension or unpleasantness in an instant.

Maybe in his eyes, now that the misunderstanding about Sarah had been cleared up, they should just make up and move on.
