Chapter 803 Conflict
The strength behind her made Phoebe feel at ease. She turned around and saw Theodore's incredibly handsome face. She smiled at him.
A woman's mocking voice came from nearby, "Oh, your lover is here. Let me see who it
is."
Everyone turned to look at Theodore. He was wearing a trench coat over his
loungewear, with a strikingly handsome face and an extraordinary demeanor. Just standing there, he exuded an oppressive aura.
Phoebe looked at the arrogant woman, who was surrounded by a few people, both men and women, presumably acquaintances.
The person who had thrown her out earlier was particularly tall and fat, with flesh shaking with every movement, clearly not someone to be trifled with.
With her backup arriving, the woman became even more arrogant, "Honey, it's her. She dared to pull my hair just now. Teach her a lesson."
Aubrey Hagen, looking fierce and holding a briefcase, said, "Guys, someone bullied Clio Webb. What should we do?"
The people who came with Aubrey looked like thugs. Rolling up their sleeves, they said, "Aubrey, people like her should kneel in front of Clio and beg for forgiveness until Clio forgives her."
"Let's do it." Aubrey's fleshy face showed a disgusting gleam as he stared at Phoebe. "But be gentle, don't hurt her."
"Aubrey, we wouldn't." The group rubbed their hands and walked towards Phoebe.
Keith stepped in front of Phoebe in a flash, glaring at the group, "What do you want?"
"Nothing much. She upset our Clio, so she needs to apologize." The three men clearly looked like troublemakers.
The onlookers continued filming, and someone advised, "Miss, these people look like trouble. Don't go head-to-head with them. Just apologize."
Phoebe stood her ground, coldly watching the three thugs approach. "First they pushed, then they insulted. You expect me to apologize? I'm not that magnanimous."
"Delbert Loomis, teach her a lesson and make her realize her mistake." Clio, emboldened by her numbers, kept egging them on from behind.
The three men lunged forward. Keith fought them alone, kicking one burly man who fell to the ground, wailing.noveldrama
The other two didn't expect Keith to be so formidable and hesitated. Clio shouted from behind, "Delbert, can't you handle such a weak man?"
The remaining two, humiliated, charged at Keith. They were usually good fighters, relying on brute strength, making it hard for Keith to break free.
The fight grew more intense. A nurse ran over to intervene but was stopped by concerned onlookers to prevent her from getting hurt.
Theodore stood behind Phoebe, grabbed her arm, and pushed her towards Ruby, saying coldly, "Watch her."
"Theodore!" Phoebe watched as Theodore joined the fray. No one saw how he moved, but one of the thugs attacking Keith was thrown out, followed by another who was kicked into the wall and fell heavily to the ground.
Outside the emergency room, there was a brief silence, then applause erupted.
Just then, the police arrived, subdued the troublemakers, and began questioning everyone. Clio pointed at Phoebe, "She hit us first. Look how badly we're hurt." Ruby's face turned red with anger, "You pushed her mother first, causing her to get injured and sent to the hospital. Now you're falsely accusing us."
"But you also hit our people. Officer, you have to side with us," Clio said.
The officer saw it was a civil dispute and knew on-site mediation wouldn't work, especially with so many onlookers in a hospital. He instructed his colleague, "Take everyone back to the station. We'll sort it out there."
"Yes, please come with us."
Ruby immediately stepped in front of Phoebe, saying, "Officer, I'll go with you. Her mom is still in the emergency room, and someone needs to stay here."
"Ruby, I'll go. You stay here with Evelyn." Phoebe pulled her back and stood in front of the officer, "I'll go with you."
Theodore was about to speak when the director of the hospital, Geraldo McGinnis, hurried over with security. Seeing the towering Theodore, he wiped his sweat and jogged over.
"Mr. Reynolds, what are you doing here?" Geraldo quickly reached Theodore, shaking his hand warmly. "Are you here to see your grandmother? She's well taken care of here, don't worry."
Theodore withdrew his hand coolly, saying, "I'm here with my wife to visit my mother- in-law."
Geraldo hadn't heard that Theodore remarried. Seeing Phoebe next to him, he assumed they had reconciled and warmly said, "Mrs. Reynolds, if you ever need to take your mother to the hospital again, please let me know. I'd appreciate a heads-up."
Aubrey, seeing Geraldo's enthusiasm towards Theodore, and recalling Phoebe's earlier shout, finally recognized who Theodore was and turned pale.
Was he Theodore, the richest man in the country?
Aubrey's current project was with the Reynolds Group. He had almost hit Theodore earlier.
"Officer, this is a misunderstanding." Aubrey approached the officer, "We withdraw our complaint."
Clio, not knowing who Theodore was but seeing Geraldo's obsequiousness, realized he must be important.
However, seeing Aubrey scared, Clio felt she had lost face in front of Phoebe and said, "I was hit, and Delbert was also hit by them. I demand an apology."
"Shut up!" Aubrey yelled, then hurried to Theodore, smiling apologetically, "Mr. Reynolds, I didn't recognize you earlier. I apologize for offending you and your wife. You're kind-hearted, please don't hold it against me."
Theodore gave him a cold look, "I do hold it against you. What do you plan to do?"
Aubrey, stunned by their words, suddenly fell to his knees and pleaded, "Mr. Reynolds, Mrs. Reynolds, please forgive me. It's my fault for not keeping my wife in check. If you're still angry, I'll have her come to the hospital every day to serve your mother and make amends."
Phoebe frowned at Aubrey's self-slapping. Just then, the emergency room door opened, and a doctor came out.
She quickly walked over, "Doctor, how is my mom?"
What do you think?
