Chapter 799 A Battle of Acting Skills
Valentin watched his figure disappear, then turned to look at Hestia, who was standing beside him, covering her face and sobbing, and he immediately felt a headache
coming on.
Looking at the crowd with wide eyes nearby, he irritably shooed them away, "What are you looking at? Don't you have any work to do on set?"
Seeing that Valentin was in a bad mood, everyone left.
As the crowd dispersed, Dione tugged at Hestia's clothes and said, "Hestia, let's go too."
Hestia was still a bit afraid of Valentin. Just as she was about to slip away, Valentin called out, "Hestia, wait a moment. I have a few questions for you."
Hestia pressed her lips together, knowing she couldn't escape this ordeal. She quickly said, "I swear, I didn't push her; she jumped on her own."
"Do you think Patrick will believe that?" Valentin looked at Hestia.
It wasn't that he didn't believe her, but now that Hestia had gained some fame, she had become a bit arrogant. This film had chosen her precisely because of her unique temperament.
Hestia gritted her teeth, "If I pushed her down, I'd be willing to walk on hot coals to apologize."
"It's not that serious." Valentin glanced at her, "Go to the meeting room later. You hurt someone Patrick cares about; he won't let it go without an explanation."
Hestia's face turned ugly, "Valentin, who exactly is this Cindy to Patrick that he protects her so much?"
"Don't ask about her background. She's Patrick's personal makeup artist. Only you two were there when it happened. Think about how you're going to explain it to Patrick." Valentin said seriously.
Hestia pressed her lips tightly together. Seeing how Patrick was so concerned about Cindy earlier, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Cindy was his girlfriend. Otherwise, why would he be so worried about a makeup artist's life?
Thinking of this, Hestia felt even more foolish for suggesting to be Patrick's on-set couple. She wondered what they thought of her now.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got, "I didn't push Cindy down. What do I have to explain?"
Valentin patted Hestia's shoulder, "Come to the meeting room later."
With that, he turned and left.
Seeing Valentin leave, Dione quickly ran over. Seeing Hestia's indignant face, she cautiously asked, "Hestia, what did Valentin say to you just now?"
"He told me not to mess with Cindy. What's her background? Go find out for me." Hestia demanded.
Dione said, "I already checked online. She's a beauty blogger with over ten million followers on Facebook. She's quite famous."
"A beauty blogger?" Hestia frowned, "She even dared to say I don't look as good as her without makeup. If she's so confident, she should go without makeup and compare bare faces."
Dione hesitated to speak.
Hestia glared at her, "If you have something to say, just say it. Why are you hesitating?" Dione nervously licked her lips, "Hestia, she's really bare-faced. I saw her up close; her skin is so smooth you can't even see her pores."
Hestia glared at her fiercely, "Whose assistant are you, anyway? Whose side are you on?"
"Sorry, Hestia. She's hideous. Without makeup, she's definitely not as pretty as you, really." Dione said flatteringly.
Since Hestia became popular, her temper had become more and more arrogant, with an attitude of "those who follow me will prosper, those who oppose me will perish." Dione, always on edge around her, feared saying the wrong thing and provoking her anger.
"Let's go back. My hands are chafed. Go get the set doctor for me." Hestia turned and walked ahead.

Patrick carried Cindy into the makeup room. Both of their clothes were soaked. He placed Cindy on the couch.
Cindy struggled to get up, "I'm all wet. The couch will get soaked."
"Stay put." Patrick glared at her fiercely. Cindy didn't dare move, feeling a bit aggrieved.
Even though she jumped in herself, she still felt wronged.
"Why are you yelling at me? If you didn't want to save me, you shouldn't have. I didn't ask you to." Cindy's eyes reddened. She could swim; she was just pretending to drown to scare Hestia.
Hestia had planned to set her up, but Cindy saw through the plan first.
Patrick pressed his lips together, found a clean set of clothes from her suitcase, and walked over to her, "Do you want to change yourself, or should I help you?" "Pervert!" Cindy snatched the clothes and stood up from the couch, heading to the changing room. She was angry and slammed the door loudly.
Patrick turned to change out of his wet clothes. Just as he finished, Cindy came out. Her hair was still dripping. Patrick grabbed a towel and roughly dried her hair. Cindy struggled for a while and finally escaped from his clutches. She glared at him angrily, "What are you trying to do, scalp me?"
Patrick stared at her with a deep, unsettling gaze.
Cindy's eyes flickered. She grabbed the towel and dried her hair herself. Knowing she was in the wrong, she awkwardly said, "She tried to frame me for pushing her into the water. I didn't want to make things difficult for you, so I jumped in myself. Besides, I can swim. I pretended to drown to scare her."
Patrick sneered, "Should I praise you for being brave and resourceful?"
Cindy could tell from his tone that he was mocking her. She said, "What else could I
do? I had to teach her a lesson so she wouldn't dare to frame others again."
"You even planned ahead." Patrick teased.
Cindy pressed her lips together and fell silent.
After Cindy dried her hair, Valentin sent someone to invite them to the meeting room. When they arrived, Hestia was already there.
Her arm was wrapped in thick bandages, and she was sitting there wiping her tears. Who wouldn't feel sorry for her?
Cindy glanced at Patrick. He was looking at her with a blank expression. Her heart pounded as she walked to the table and sat down.
Valentin said, "You're here. I've looked into this matter. It was an accident. Ms. Croix, what do you have to say?"
Cindy sat silently. Just as Valentin was about to say something comforting, he saw big tears rolling down her face, startling him.
"Ms. Croix, don't cry. I'm not blaming you. We're still looking into it, right?" Valentin, under Patrick's intense stare, didn't know what to say.
If actors could cry on cue like she did, casting directors would have a much easier job.
Cindy took a deep breath and said, "Valentin, it's all my fault. Don't blame Ms. Sharp. I'm the one who caused trouble for the crew. Ms. Sharp doesn't like me, so I should avoid her and not make her uncomfortable."noveldrama
Hestia looked up in shock at Cindy. There were no tears in her eyes; she had been pretending to be pitiful. "Cindy, stop pretending. You jumped in yourself."
Cindy wiped her tears and sincerely apologized to Hestia, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have taken your role. Next time, you can have it."
What do you think?
