Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 1071

Chapter 1071:

As they stepped inside, Madisyn froze, her eyes narrowing in surprise. Sitting comfortably at the table with Axton was none other than Albertine.

Albertine greeted her with a bright smile. “Miss Johns, I’m so glad you’re here!”

Madisyn returned a polite smile, though her confusion was evident. “Good afternoon, Albertine,” she replied while taking her seat. Her gaze flickered between Albertine and Axton, her mind racing with questions. Why were these two here together?

Noticing Madisyn’s puzzled expression, Axton offered a polite explanation. “I was on my way back today when I saw Albertine outside the manor. She seemed hesitant to go in, so I offered her a ride. Along the way, she mentioned she was coming back to prepare a gift for you. We chatted a bit, and I found her incredibly lively and charming. Since I was going to meet you, I thought it would be nice to bring her along. She wanted to surprise you, so I kept it a secret. I hope you don’t mind.”

Madisyn’s expression softened, and she shook her head. “Not at all. Thank you, Albertine, for the thoughtful gesture.”

“Thank you for the surprise, and thank you, Mr. Vettel, for bringing her here.”

“I’m glad you’re okay with it,” Axton replied warmly.

He then turned to Albertine, his face lighting up with a gentle smile. “Albertine, you’ve been guarding that box so carefully the entire way here. What’s inside? Can you tell me now?”

Albertine clutched the large paper box protectively and shook her head firmly. “No, this is something meant only for Miss Johns to see.”

With Ailyn’s uncle detained and the family in disarray, Madisyn had worried about Albertine living in the vast and intimidating manor. She had even suggested Albertine move to Lorpond with her, but Albertine had refused.

She explained that she needed to stay at the manor because it was part of her family’s legacy.

Madisyn had intended to arrange something to help Albertine before leaving. But now, watching Albertine and Axton interact, she realized that Albertine might already have found a pillar of support within the manor. Her genuine goodness seemed to have drawn Axton to her, forming an unexpected alliance.

Axton, though surprised that Albertine still wished to keep the gift a secret, respected her wishes and smiled at Madisyn. “I suppose I’ll have to find a way to convince Albertine to make a special gift for me, too. Otherwise, I might end up feeling a little jealous of you, Miss Johns.”noveldrama

Madisyn smiled warmly at Axton. “I’m sure Albertine would be delighted to make a special gift for you too.”

Albertine, hearing the conversation, awkwardly scratched her ear, her face flushing slightly.

Today’s gift was meant for Madisyn alone. She hadn’t interacted much with this uncle of hers—she’d only seen him from a distance a few times—but he seemed like a decent person now.
