After traveling all night yesterday, Nyx's stomach had been empty. She had just gulped down some water to fill up, and now she felt a bit uncomfortable, swaying

Male lions could easily go days without eating, but as soon as they heard Nyx's stomach growl, they couldn't sit still.

"Let's go hunt," they insisted, telling Nyx to stay and rest.

After seeing how weak Nyx looked yesterday, they had gotten really worried. They were honestly concerned she might be

sick.

After a brief mourning, their mates moved on, forgetting them as they continued their journey.

But Theon and Felix couldn't accept the thought of Nyx leaving them. They couldn't even imagine that kind of

scene.

They had already claimed the best territory, and now they needed to hunt hard to keep Nyx strong and healthy.

The two male lions immediately set off, and Nyx, unable to argue, stayed behind and waited.

She watched them leave, and then turned her attention back to the lionesses working together to hunt.

The lionesses of the Great Valley Pride were all well-fed and strong, very skilled at hunting. They worked together smoothly to trap and corner their prey, and soon enough, they brought down a zebra.

When they returned, they were surprised to find only Nyx in the territory. They thought, 'Where has the King

gone?

Normally, the lion king ate first when the pride fed. Now that the prey was back, but the lion king wasn't here, the lionesses looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

"Go ahead and eat, don't wait for them," Nyx said, hopping down from the rock. “Theon and Felix are out

hunting too."

The lionesses were even more confused at this. They thought, 'Male lions hunting? It is normal for wandering male lions to hunt, but aren't they part of the pride now?"

The male lion king did sometimes hunt, but that was usually for bigger prey.

Normally, their job was to patrol the territory and drive off intruders.

“If the lion king isn't eating, can we start?” a young lioness asked in a low voice, clearly eager.

No. Yaya answered cautiously.

She was still not sure if the new male lions in the pride would hunt for themselves. It was more likely they

were marking their territory. That, she thought, was what the newly crowned male lion king was supposed to

do.
