Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 198

Back at the hotel suite, Janice lay down to rest as Edward took care of her.

She sighed helplessly. "I'm not that fragile. The doctor just said to avoid strenuous activity."

"We're in a foreign country. It's better to be cautious."

Edward had doubled the usual number of bodyguards for this trip. He was worried that something unexpected might happen and affect her condition.noveldrama

When his phone rang, he said, "I'll answer this call."

"Alright."

He stepped into the living room, poured himself a cup of tea, and listened to the voice on the other end.

"Onley Group is preparing to enter the domestic market ahead of the competition. It looks like the entire family is moving back to the country. Those crochet designs that suddenly made waves in the international competition all came from them. "They've been secretly hiring retired seamstresses at high prices to build their reputation and establish a foothold in the domestic market."

The voice continued, "Onley Group's approach has always been the same-throw money at the problem first. If that doesn't work, they'll crush any opposition. They ensure that seamstresses who refuse to join them have nowhere else to go, so they're forced to either give up the craft entirely or submit to Onley Group.

"Your girlfriend is lucky she's a local. Otherwise, she might not have escaped their tactics."

Onley Group dominated the international crochet industry, with over 90% of seamstresses abroad working under them. They were experts at monopolizing the industry. In the past, the top seamstresses and the ten best designs each year had always come from Onley Group.

But then Shirley emerged. Not only did she challenge Onley Group's dominance, but she also refused to work for them. Onley Group wasn't just trying to suppress her-they wanted her gone.

Edward's main focus was investigating what had happened to Janice. "I got it," he said.

"Be careful, Mr. Moore. Once the competition is over, return home as soon as possible. The people from Onley Group are ruthless-they'll stop at nothing."

The voice on the phone belonged to Theron Yates, Edward's late grandfather's former secretary. The Moore family addressed him respectfully as "Mr. Yates".

Edward's late grandfather had once been among the most powerful figures, and Theron had been by his side for a lifetime. He had a wider network than Robert.

Even after Edward's grandfather passed away, Theron continued to watch over the Moores.

"Don't worry, Mr. Yates," Edward reassured him.

Theron suddenly remembered something. "Oh, one more thing. There's someone else you should know about. It's Zedrick Jovarek, the heir to Onley Group."

In the room, Janice also received a call.

It was from Cortez Thorne, who had once helped her mother. He worked in freight and logistics.

"Onley Group is shipping goods to the country? Are they preparing to enter the domestic market?" Janice asked, puzzled.

Cortez replied, "I don't think it's that simple. If they were just setting up shop, they'd negotiate with department stores and boutiques. But why bring in seamstresses? They arrived by ship, and their destination is the commercial district in Greenfield City

He went on, "I heard you're working at Prosper Stitch Group and doing well. Keep an eye out. When I

returned home for the holidays, et

noticed many seamstresses had gone abroad. Even long-retired seamstresses were being drawn back in."

Cortez specifically told Janice this information. As someone in the logistics business, he had access to all kinds of information and always got wind of things quickly.

When he was younger, he had feelings for Janice's mother, Seraphina. He had been abroad when she passed away, so he hadn't known about it. That was why he was unable to help the two children she left behind back then.

"Got it, Mr. Thorne. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for letting me know."

"No need to thank me. Call anytime if you need anything. I'm staying in the country now, so I'm always around. Come visit when you have time," Cortez said.

"Okay."

After hanging up, Janice felt a sense of unease.

Prosper Stitch Group had just secured its footing in the market, and now, Onley Group was moving in to carve out a piece of the pie. The timing couldn't have been worse.

Edward walked in and saw her deep in thought. "What's on your mind?"

"Onley Group might already be making moves to enter the domestic market," Janice said.

"You know about it?" He raised an eyebrow.

"An old family friend just called to tell me."

Janice's frown deepened. "This is

bad news for our company. And Onley Group has sent people after me before. They don't like letting top seamstresses slip through their fingers. Things are about to get turbulent in Greenfield City
