Chapter 129
Edward paused for a moment before changing his words. "Those shoes don't suit you. Try on this suit instead."
Though slightly confused, Janice didn't question him and simply went along with his suggestion.noveldrama
Matilda, however, stood there speechless.
She approached Edward and asked again, "Edward, do you really like her?"
Her earlier comment had been a test.
But now...
Regardless of his answer, Matilda had already made up her mind-she genuinely liked Janice.
"Isn't it obvious?" Edward finally responded.
"I guess," Matilda said. "But you've always been polite to everyone."
"Do I hold hands with just anyone wherever I go?" Edward retorted.
"...Well, no." Matilda hesitated before reminding him, "New Year's is coming. Dad will be back soon."
At the mention of Robert, the Moore siblings instinctively fell silent.
When it was time to leave, Edward paid for everything Janice had tried on. Meanwhile, the driver helped load the shopping bags into the car.
"Are you staying in Greenfield City for New Year's?" Edward asked Janice.
"Most likely," she replied.
Other than visiting her parents, she and Jacob had no set plans.
After dropping her off at her place, the Bentley drove away.
Once Janice got home, Jacob approached to help with the shopping bags. "Hey, Janice. Did Mr. Moore buy all of these for you?"
"How did you know?" she asked.
"You're not the type to go shopping for fun," Jacob said with a knowing smile.
As he carried the bags inside, he casually asked, "There's less than a month until New Year's. Do you have any plans?"
In reality, he was subtly asking if she would be spending the holiday with Edward's family.
"Edward hasn't mentioned anything, so we'll just celebrate like usual," Janice answered.
Jacob headed to the kitchen,
preparing to start making dinner "But you're playing the role of his girlfriend, and his family already knows about you. It might be a good idea to visit them."
"They're in Solvania, which is a bit far. Besides, does being in a relationship automatically mean I have to meet the parents?"
"Didn't you go through something like this with Simon?"
"That was different. His mom invited herself over."
In reality, Helena hadn't simply visited-she had insisted on becoming a permanent part of their lives.
"By the way, have you made any progress on the task I asked about?" Janice asked, following Jacob into the kitchen with a glass of water in hand.
"My roommate said Amelia's
medical records are locked, so he
can't access them. But his family
knows the hospital director, so he'll get back to me tonight."
Janice hesitated. "That sounds like a lot of hassle for him. Maybe we should just forget about it."
"It's fine. I've helped him out before. Consider it a favor returned."
"Alright then."
When Simon stepped into Fitzgerald Residence, he immediately noticed a guest sitting
"Mr. Fitzgerald, welcome back!" The middle-aged man rose with a warm smile.
Amelia walked over to Simon.
the living room.
"Simon, you're home. Let me introduce you-this is an old friend of my father's. He's in Greenfield City for business and stopped by to visit us
"It's good to see you're doing well, Mrs. Fitzgerald. I'm sure your father would be reassured knowing that," Arthur Appleton said.
Standing next to him was his daughter, Elsie. She shot Simon several shy glances, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Simon quickly realized Arthur's intentions. He was clearly here to ask for something.
But what could someone from a small town need from him?
"I'll leave you all to continue your conversation," Simon said.
Without another word, he turned and made his way to his study.
What do you think?
