Mom had told me that Madeleine had made it inside the room, so I relaxed a little. I hope that it meant everyone else was safe as well.noveldrama

We were waiting, warriors placed in the positions we had picked. All around the line of the borders from the direction the rouges had been seen. And, of course, we had warriors and trackers out, making sure they did not come from another direction.

Then we see them, and the rouges come in one big group as we had thought they would. But what surprises me is that a man, clearly their leader, comes walking very nonchalantly. It's almost as if he is going to a meeting without worry.

The rouges stop, and the man smiles big. If I did not know better, I would wouldn't see him as an enemy.

"Aah, Royals. It is an honor to meet you." He says as if he wasn't here to cause chaos.

"What do you want," Dad asks, even if we already know.

"I see the vampire king here, so I am sure you know what I want. Give it to me, and I'll leave in peace." He chuckles.

"What you want is unreasonable and cruel. You cannot force wolves into a life they don't want." Dad says Calmly, and the rouge chuckles.

"I hear that you heard it all, good. Don't you think it is about time to challenge the matebond? Think about all those who end up rejected, all because our so-called Moon goodness says this is how it should be. Or how many lose their mates in battles and die because the thought alone, without a mate, is devastating." The rouge says and smiles calmly.

"Nothing in this world is perfect. That also counts for chosen mates. You know that. What you want to do, is force half-breeds of our races. Preferably those with gifts. And that is not only repulsive but wrong in every way. Our races mix on their own, and they don't need us to breed them." Dad says Calmly, and the rouge smirks.

Something is wrong. I can't feel Madeleine, and my mindlink won't go through her. It makes me anxious because if I can't feel her, she might not be able to feel me. And that might cause her to do something very stupid.

'Dad, I cannot feel Maddy.' I say in my mindlink between my Dad and Enzo and myself.

'Rose says they are all fine.' Enzo says, but Dad doesn't answer at first.

'I cannot contact your mom either.' Dad says.

That's where I feel it, the pricing pain in my chest, as if someone is trying to pull out my heart. I look at Dad and see the discomfort on his face, too.

"What are you doing?" I ask the rouge.

"Me? I am standing here talking to you, oh my king." He says with an evil smile.

I see Vladimir look back at two of his men, and they unnoticed slip back and away. I'm Happy the vampires are on our side. If there is something I have learned, it is that they have much more we could learn from them.

MADELEINE

'Noah, please don't lock me out.' I was in the mindlink, but no response.

Somehow, I know he isn't dead, but I cannot feel him at all. I look at Liv, and she smiles, but she looks worried as well.

"What's happening?" I ask her.

“Enzo just asked if we are okay. Dad and Noah can't feel any of you." Rose says.

"I don't feel Noah," I say, and I am about to say something more when I gasp.

I feel a rush over me like someone is trying to take something from me, a piece of my heart, not a piece of my soul.

"Breathe slowly," Olivia says softly.

"What happened? I am not sure, Greta. I think someone is trying to cut our mate bonds." Olivia says, and I look at her in shock.

Greta right away starts closing her

eyes and going into a trance of

sorts, and she goes quiet for what feels like many slow minutes. But then she opens her eyes, and I see they are all back. She ser head, gaining her own consciousness back.

"You're right. Someone powerful is trying to separate you from your mates. Here, take my hands and let your wolf connect with me." Greta says, and we do as she says.

I can now feel Greta, her wolf, Olivia

and her wolf, and Lily. But I first really relaxed when I felt Lucian's mind find ours, and Logan's wolf joined us later. But I almost cry

Then Greta slowly connects our minds, and in the end, it's just Lily and me, Noah and Lucian.

"I got so scared. Thank god Greta was here." I say slowly.

"Greta is a lot more powerful than anyone thinks, even at her age. Stay with her. I

feel a protecting shield around our minds now." Noah says, and I agree.

I don't leave Noah's mind, and I now hear the words that come from the rouge that have started all this. And listen carefully without saying anything. I can hear in his voice that he sounds proud of himself, but his tone suddenly changes to annoyed.

I hear Logan chuckle and say that the rouge is not the only one who knows a

witch. And I realize the rouge must know his little plan failed.

“Ha ha, take that stupid rouge," I say to myself. I think, but I feel Noah chuckle in my mind.
