Chapter 652
The maids recounted the events one after another.
“Peter bumped into Ms. Frazier. We heard her scream for help, but when we tried to intervene, he yelled at us to back off.”
“I saw him slap Lara and threaten to throw her into the ocean to feed the sharks.”
“We saw Peter dragging Ms. Frazier away. She called for help, but Peter drove us away.”
The maids, who had previously been subservient to him, were all accusing him now.
Colors drained from Peter’s face, and he said desperately, “Lies! You’re all lying. I am innocent. These wretches are conspiring against me. Sir…”
Drake narrowed his eyes, sneering, “I gave you a chance. You’ve wasted it.”
“Sir, please don’t,” Peter pleaded tearfully.
Drake raised his hand, and the two mercenaries stepped forward, grabbing Peter’s arms.
With one final, desperate cry, he was thrown overboard, his voice fading into the night as the waves swallowed him.
The maids huddled together, terrified, as the splash echoed through the quiet sea.
Drake, appearing uninterested in the spectacle, turned on his heel and strode back toward the cabin.
“Sir.” Lara opened the door for him.
The room was empty, and Drake frowned. “Where’s Debra?”
“Ms. Frazier changed her clothes and returned to her room,” Lara replied.
“Did I let her leave?” Drake snorted.
Lara’s heart skipped a beat. “I’ll go fetch her right away
“No need,” Drake said, his tone cold. “I’ll get her myself
“Sir!”
Lara’s protest died on her lips as she watched Drake head down the hall. He stopped at Debra’s door, his sharp ears picking up the faint sound of running water.
“Lara, is that you?” Debra’s voice came from the bathroom, a little strained. “Can you help me with my back? My arm’s still sore, and I can’t reach it.”
Lara rushed up, hesitating only a second before speaking in a low, trembling voice. “Ms. Frazier wants me to help with her bath.”
“Go ahead,” Drake said before leaving.
Lara slid into the room and heaved a sigh of relief.
Inside, Debra emerged from the bathroom, fully dressed and dry. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
Lara whispered, “That was way too close. Mr. Lowe almost walked in. If he found out you weren’t bathing but using your phone, he’d have killed you.”
“He wasn’t going to come in,” Debra replied calmly, pulling a phone from her pocket.
Over the last few days, she’d learned one thing about Drake. For all his threats, he respected boundaries. If he promised her respect, he would–honor it, no matter how menacing his words.
Thanks to Lara, Debra had managed to slip away and retrieve Peter’s phone in storage. With it, she could finally contact Marion and the others.
